Job Title: AccountantJob Description
The Accountant supports the month-end close process and ensures the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger. This role prepares journal entries, performs account and bank reconciliations, coordinates monthly close activities, and researches and resolves accounting discrepancies to deliver timely and accurate financial reporting. The Accountant collaborates with cross-functional teams to verify transactions, maintain balance sheet reconciliations, and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies. The role also utilizes accounting systems and reporting tools to analyze data, supports process improvement initiatives, assists with internal and external audits, and contributes to ad hoc reporting, financial analysis, and special projects as needed.
Responsibilities
Support the month-end close process by preparing and posting accurate journal entries.
Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger through regular review and updates.
Perform detailed account and bank reconciliations to ensure all balances are accurate and complete.
Coordinate monthly close activities to meet reporting deadlines and deliver timely financial statements.
Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and variances to improve financial accuracy.
Verify transactions and balances by working closely with cross-functional teams across multiple entities.
Maintain and review balance sheet reconciliations to ensure proper documentation and support.
Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies in all accounting activities.
Utilize large-scale ERP systems and reporting tools to analyze financial data and support decision-making.
Create and use pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions in Excel to perform data analysis and reconciliations.
Support process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting operations.
Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and supporting analyses.
Contribute to ad hoc reporting, financial analysis, and special projects as assigned.
Operate effectively in a multi-company and multi-currency environment, ensuring accurate consolidation and reporting.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
At least 3 years of experience performing reconciliations.
At least 3 years of experience recording journal entries.
At least 3 years of experience in financial reporting.
Hands-on experience working in a multi-company and multi-currency setting.
Strong proficiency in creating pivot tables and using VLOOKUP functions in Excel.
Proficiency with large-scale ERP systems.
Solid understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close processes.
Ability to perform detailed reconciliation and analysis of financial accounts.
Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and standard accounting policies and procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with Vantagepoint ERP is a plus.
Background in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry is beneficial.
Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data and identify discrepancies and trends.
Experience supporting internal and external audits.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and multiple business units.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in financial records.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Interest in ongoing professional development and participation in professional organizations.
Work Environment
This role offers a mostly remote work arrangement, with occasional in-office presence on an as-needed basis, typically about one to two times per month. The position is open to candidates who can commute to either the Mechanicsburg, PA or Houston, TX office when required. The work environment centers on the use of large-scale ERP systems and advanced Excel functionality for financial analysis and reporting. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $42.00/hr.
