Job Title: 3rd Shift Manufacturing Lead
Job Description
The 3rd Shift Manufacturing Lead oversees production operations in a fast-paced metal fabrication environment, leading a team of operators working on CNC turret presses, lasers, press brakes, and welding processes. This hands-on leadership role focuses on meeting production goals, maintaining quality standards, and upholding safety expectations while actively supporting the team on the production floor and driving accountability and performance across the shift.
Responsibilities
Lead and supervise a 3rd shift production team of approximately eight operators, with the expectation that the team will grow as operations expand.
Direct daily workflow and ensure production schedules are followed, adjusting priorities as needed to meet production goals.
Provide real-time production support by stepping in on the floor to assist with operations, resolve issues, and maintain output.
Coach and train employees on best practices, machine operation, and process improvements across CNC turret presses, lasers, press brakes, and welding processes.
Reinforce safety and quality standards, ensuring all team members follow established procedures and work instructions.
Monitor individual and team performance, provide constructive feedback, and address productivity or behavioral concerns to maintain a high-performing team.
Communicate consistently with supervisors and other shifts to ensure alignment on production goals, priorities, and handoffs between shifts.
Troubleshoot equipment issues and support machine setups when necessary to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
Identify and recommend areas for continuous improvement in fabrication processes, workflow, and team practices.
Lead by example on the production floor, demonstrating strong character, accountability, and a hands-on approach to leadership.
Essential Skills
Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, with a strong preference for metal fabrication or machine shop settings.
Experience overseeing teams in environments that include CNC turret presses, lasers, press brakes, or welding operations.
Ability to set up and operate CNC machines and related metal fabrication equipment as needed to support production.
Strong blueprint reading skills to guide machine setup, fabrication processes, and quality checks.
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, production scheduling, and quality expectations.
Demonstrated ability to coach, train, and develop employees in a production setting.
Proven capability to manage performance, address issues, and drive results on a production shift.
Strong character and accountability, with the ability to lead from the front and stay engaged on the production floor.
Comfort balancing leadership responsibilities with hands-on involvement in production activities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Background in metal fabrication environments, including CNC turret presses, lasers, press brakes, and welding operations.
Experience working in fast-paced, high-volume production settings.
Ability to identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.
Effective communication skills for coordinating with supervisors and other shifts.
Strong problem-solving skills for troubleshooting equipment and production issues in real time.

Work Environment
This role is based on 3rd Shift, working Sunday through Thursday overnights in a fast-paced metal fabrication facility. The environment includes CNC turret presses, lasers, press brakes, and welding operations, with a focus on efficient production and high-quality output. The facility is climate controlled, providing a comfortable and stable working atmosphere. Work is performed on the production floor, requiring regular interaction with machinery, tools, and fabrication processes throughout the shift.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Raleigh, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $32.00/hr.
