Duties
You will review and evaluate the technical adequacy of logistics support, maintenance, and modification programs accomplished by HIINC (Huntington Ingalls Industries)
You will provide surveillance of Contractor design and production engineering products.
You will conduct surveillance of Contractor engineering practices (including subcontractors) to the extent necessary to demonstrate that the Contractor is meeting contract and specification requirements.
You will review and evaluate requests for Departure from Specifications (DFS) (including "engineering equivalencies") and initiate actions required to process the requests and make recommendations for approval or rejection.
You will review engineering studies, design and technical aspects of proposals (including reasonableness of engineering equivalency, man-hours and scope of work involved when requested by the Contracting Officer).
You will perform ship checks and similar functions and facilitate resolution of technical programs in cognitive systems/equipment.
You will coordinate efforts and maintain liaison through meetings and conferences with Contractor supervisors, design engineers, vendors and other engineering personnel from within the organization and from other Naval commands.

This is a bargaining unit position.
You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Examining engineering oversight, design verification, and diagnostic ship checks of nuclear aircraft carrier and submarine propulsion and auxiliary systems, with steam-plant cleanliness and noise-reduction program experience highly advantageous, to resolve technical variances, validate contractor compliance with technical and contractual requirements, and ensure system reliability and maintainability during inspections and sea trials by coordinating with contractors, vendors, and Naval activities.
