Job Description
As a Construction Laborer, you will support high-volume production work by building modular trailers from the ground up in a fast-paced construction environment. You will perform repetitive installation tasks on standardized trailer units, use basic hand and power tools, and follow training to become fully self-sufficient in assembling and building trailers according to specifications.
Responsibilities
Build modular trailers following established production processes and specifications.
Perform repetitive installation tasks on standardized trailer units, ensuring accuracy and consistency in each build.
Use basic hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete construction and carpentry tasks.
Assist with framing, basic carpentry, and related construction activities as needed.
Read and follow blueprints or build instructions to assemble trailer components correctly.
Support cabling and basic electrical-related tasks as directed, where applicable.
Maintain a steady work pace to meet production goals in a fast-paced environment.
Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including proper use of PPE and tools.
Keep work areas organized, clean, and free of hazards to support a safe and efficient yard and warehouse environment.
Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve issues and improve build quality and efficiency.
Adapt to working both indoors and outdoors, adjusting to changing weather conditions while maintaining productivity.
Participate in training to learn trailer assembly methods and progress toward working independently with minimal supervision.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in using basic hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently.
Ability to perform basic carpentry tasks, including measuring, cutting, and assembling materials.
Experience in construction or general labor work in a production or yard environment.
Capability to read and follow simple blueprints, diagrams, or written build instructions.
Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate and consistent assembly of modular trailers.
Ability to work at a steady pace in a fast-paced production setting.
Commitment to following safety protocols and using required personal protective equipment.
Physical ability to work on a construction yard, including standing for extended periods and handling tools and materials.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
OSHA 10 certification or any formal safety training is highly beneficial.
Previous experience as a construction laborer, carpenter, or in framing work is an advantage.
Basic electrical experience is a plus, particularly related to cabling or trailer builds.
Familiarity with BC cabling or similar cabling work is helpful.
Ability to work independently after training, demonstrating self-sufficiency in daily tasks.
Willingness to learn new construction techniques and adapt to standardized production processes.

Work Environment
This role is based in a large construction yard that includes warehouse buildings with 20-foot garage doors designed to move trailers under cover while work is performed. You will work both outside and inside, with warehouse doors closed during rain or cold weather to provide shelter, and opened during warm months so the environment feels similar to working outdoors in the summer. The setting is a production-oriented construction environment with trailers moved in and out of covered bays. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with potential adjustments as needed. Work involves regular use of hand and power tools, adherence to safety procedures, and wearing appropriate PPE provided on site.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Elgin, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $28.00/hr.
