Job Title: Medical Assistant
Job Description
This Medical Assistant role focuses on supporting nuclear cardiology services by assisting with patient intake, preparing patients and exam rooms for procedures, and providing clinical and clerical support to licensed staff. You will help ensure efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, and a clean, safe environment while gaining hands-on experience in a cardiology clinic and working closely with an experienced team of physicians.
Responsibilities
Assist with patient intake by verifying demographic and medical information, recording vital signs, and preparing patients for nuclear cardiology and related procedures.
Support licensed clinical staff during nuclear cardiology procedures by maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment in exam and testing areas.
Perform clerical duties, including scheduling patient appointments, completing data entry tasks, and maintaining accurate and confidential patient records in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Prepare exam rooms before each patient visit by ensuring equipment is functioning properly and supplies are stocked and sanitized.
Escort patients to and from testing areas to support smooth patient flow and a positive experience.
Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, physicians, and staff to support coordinated, patient-centered care.
Follow all safety protocols related to radiation and infection control as trained, including proper handling of equipment and adherence to clinic procedures.
Assist with electrocardiogram (EKG/ECG) and stress testing procedures as directed, once trained and competency is demonstrated.
Contribute to a respectful, supportive, and learning-focused clinical environment by collaborating with colleagues and participating in ongoing training.
Essential Skills
Experience or training as a medical assistant or certified medical assistant (CMA), with the ability to support clinical and clerical tasks.
Hands-on experience with or exposure to EKG/ECG procedures and basic electrocardiogram techniques.
Some knowledge of cardiac rhythms and the ability to recognize basic rhythm patterns as trained.
Ability to assist with stress testing procedures under the supervision of licensed staff.
Strong attention to detail when verifying patient information, recording vital signs, and maintaining accurate records.
Proficiency with basic data entry and scheduling in a clinical setting.
Ability to follow HIPAA regulations and maintain strict patient confidentiality.
Capability to follow radiation safety and infection control protocols as instructed.
Effective verbal communication skills for interacting with patients and clinical staff.
Organizational skills to keep exam rooms, equipment, and supplies orderly and ready for use.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Any prior EKG or CMA experience is preferred.
Any experience with nuclear medicine or stress testing is preferred.
A bachelor's degree is preferred.
Interest in medical technology, cardiac care, and nuclear medicine.
Motivation to gain clinical hours and hands-on experience in a cardiology clinic.
Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Ability to build long-term professional relationships and network with a group of experienced doctors.
Work Environment
This role is based in a heart-focused clinical setting that provides nuclear cardiology and cardiac testing services. Typical hours run approximately from 7:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., supporting a steady but manageable patient load of around 8 to 9 patients per day. You will work closely with a collaborative team of physicians and clinical staff, using medical technology such as EKG/ECG equipment and stress testing systems. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and adherence to radiation safety and infection control protocols. The clinic offers significant hands-on learning opportunities, exposure to advanced cardiac procedures, and a supportive culture that encourages professional growth and networking.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
