JOB SUMMARY:
The Robert B. Willumstad School of Business (WSB) at Adelphi University invites terminally qualified candidates to apply for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in accounting to begin no later than in Fall 2027. We are seeking candidates who have a strong commitment to teaching students from diverse backgrounds.
Adelphi is reviewing the recent governmental changes to the H1B process and is encouraging all qualified candidates to apply.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching 18 credits per academic year (i.e., 3-3 teaching load) across undergraduate and graduate programs in accounting at the locations necessary to meet the needs of our accounting students. Candidates may receive up to 9 credits of research release (not to exceed 3 credits in any academic year) during the pre-tenure period to support their research activities.
Teaching assignments may occur during the day, evening, night and/or on weekends and in a variety of formats such as face-to-face, blended, and online. The majority of our accounting courses are currently in the face-to-face format.
Teaching interests should include ANY TWO out of the three undergraduate courses and ANY TWO out of the three graduate courses listed here: Undergraduate Intermediate Accounting, Undergraduate Advanced Accounting, Undergraduate Accounting Information Systems, Graduate Accounting Information Systems - Development and Evaluation, Graduate Financial Reporting Practice, Graduate Advanced Financial and Business Reporting.
Maintaining an active research agenda related to any area of accounting. The business programs at the Robert B. Willumstad School of Business are AACSB-accredited and tenure-track faculty are expected to maintain Scholarly-Academic status by publishing in their area of expertise in refereed academic journals.
Actively participating in WSB-wide and University-wide committees and contributing to Adelphi University's mission and strategic plan.
Providing academic advising to undergraduate accounting students every semester.
Maintaining reasonable familiarity with the current technology in accounting including the use of AI tools and showing the willingness to build such capabilities in our students.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ph.D. or D.B.A. in Accounting or in business with at least 18 graduate credits in accounting, from a U.S.-based AACSB International-accredited program.
ABD candidates will be considered only if the degree is expected to be conferred by December 2026 for a Spring 2027 start, or by May 2027 for a Fall 2027 start.
Completion of all parts of the CPA Exam prior to applying.

Experience in using, and continued willingness to use current instructional technology and digital platforms relevant to business education.
Potential and commitment to excellence in (a) teaching, (b) engaging in scholarly activity related to accounting on a sustained basis, and (c) working collaboratively with colleagues.

SALARY INFORMATION:
In compliance with New York's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $130,000 - $145,000. Adelphi University considers factors such as departmental budgets, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. An annual base salary higher than the range may be warranted in circumstances where a candidate has demonstrable equivalent prior higher education experience at another University.
