The Master of Science in Biotechnology - Medical Cannabis Therapeutics ( MSBT - MCT ) Program at Morehouse School of Medicine invites applications for an Adjunct Faculty position to teach Biomedical Data Science & Statistics (3 credit hours), a core graduate-level course.
This course provides students with a comprehensive introduction to biomedical data science and the practical application of computational, statistical, and data-driven approaches used across biotechnology, bioinformatics, biomedical research, and health informatics. Students gain exposure to modern programming languages, database systems, cloud computing, data visualization, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and data mining techniques relevant to contemporary biotechnology and biomedical innovation.
The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in biomedical data science, biostatistics, bioinformatics, computational biology, data analytics, AI/ML, or related disciplines, along with a commitment to graduate education and workforce preparation in emerging biomedical technologies.
Course Description
Biomedical Data Science & Statistics (3 Credit Hours) - Core
This course provides a comprehensive overview of key concepts in biomedical data science and the application of common data science techniques used in biotechnology, bioinformatics, and health informatics.
Topics include:
Foundations of biomedical and biotechnology data science
Applications of data science in biotechnology and healthcare
Computer programming languages used in data science, including:

Database management and cloud computing
SQL querying and analysis of open-source datasets
Data visualization using Python
Introduction to data science toolkits and computational workflows
Introduction to artificial intelligence and machine learning

The course prepares students to understand and apply computational tools and analytical frameworks increasingly essential to biotechnology, biomedical research, precision medicine, and digital health.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Adjunct Faculty member will:
Develop and deliver graduate-level instruction for Biomedical Data Science & Statistics
Prepare and maintain course materials, including lectures, demonstrations, assignments, coding exercises, and assessments
Teach foundational and applied concepts in biomedical data science and biostatistics
Introduce students to programming languages and computational tools relevant to biotechnology and biomedical research
Facilitate instruction involving:
Statistical analysis and interpretation
Database design and management
SQL querying and data retrieval
Cloud-based computing environments
Python-based data visualization and analytics
AI and machine learning fundamentals
Data mining and predictive modeling
GitHub and reproducible research practices
Integrate real-world datasets and case studies from biotechnology, healthcare, and biomedical research
Encourage critical thinking, problem solving, and interdisciplinary collaboration
Evaluate student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback
Maintain accurate academic records and submit grades according to MSM policies and academic deadlines
Collaborate with MSBT leadership to ensure curricular alignment and instructional quality
Foster an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment consistent with MSM's mission and educational values
Appointment Terms
This is a part-time Adjunct Faculty appointment for instruction of a 3-credit-hour core course within the MSBT - MCT Program. Teaching modality, appointment duration, and compensation will be determined according to Morehouse School of Medicine policies and programmatic needs.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree, PhD, MD, or equivalent advanced degree in Data Science, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Biomedical Informatics, Biotechnology, Health Informatics, or a related field
Demonstrated expertise in biomedical data science and computational analysis
Experience with programming languages and data science platforms relevant to the course
Strong communication and instructional skills

Professional or research experience involving:
Biomedical data analytics
