Department Summary:

Our team builds extensible, scalable, real-time distributed simulation capabilities used primarily for developing and accessing transportation concepts. We are looking for someone eager to apply their software development and computer science skills in a dynamic research environment supporting the Immersion Discovery Lab, Simulation, Experimentation and Analytics Lab (SEAL), and Integration Demonstration and Experimentation for Aviation (IDEA) Lab. These labs are extensible, scalable, real-time distributed simulation environments based on an open, layered architecture. They bring together a broad set of integrated capabilities for human-in-the-loop simulations, demonstrations, and immersive visualizations. They are environments capable of handling a range of exploratory concepts, while also being realistic enough to provide a high-quality user experience. This includes the use of mixed reality, rapid prototyping, accelerated computing and the use of generative artificial intelligence.

The position requires creative problem-solving skills, good communication skills, an eagerness to learn new skills, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Software development of real-time simulation applications and immersive environments

Working as part of a team of software engineers, experiment designers, operational domain experts, and human factors engineers to help demonstrate and test concepts for sponsors in an iterative rapid-prototyping environment.

Basic Qualifications:

Typically requires Bachelors degree and a minimum of 2 years related experience or an advanced degree with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step or equivalent combination of related education and work experience

Experience with Full Stack Web Development

Experience with XR development and/or Game Engine development (Unreal Engine, Unity)

Experience with C++/Java/Python and other modern software languages

Exposure to Linux-based software development

Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance

Per the U.S. Government's eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance.

This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with DevOps concepts

Experience with configuration management (e.g. Git)

Experience with or exposure to containerization and/or virtualization

Exposure to native/hybrid mobile development

Exposure to robotics and control systems (e.g. ROS 2, Isaac Sim)

Exposure to NVIDIA Omniverse and Isaac Sim

Bachelor's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline

Top Secret Clearance

Salary compensation range and midpoint:

$103,600 - $129,500 - $155,400 Annual
