JOB REQUIREMENTS: Core Responsibilities Note: This is not an all-inclusive list Participates in directing field personnel in emergency response to natural gas leaks and electric distribution outages under supervision Observes and practices developing restoration plans and directing field personnel during electric restoration Gains understanding of electric switching procedures Assists with preparing gas-valving plans in emergency situations Uses DMS and EMS systems to monitor disturbances and assist with corrective actions Learns Outage Management System to analyze and manage outages Develops understanding of system modeling and operational studies Issues and releases hold-out tags under guidance Monitors gas system pressures, flows, and odorant levels Supports reporting of system conditions and regulatory requirements Participates in shift rotation including nights, weekends, and holidays Behavioral Competencies Note: These are in addition to MGE\'s Core Competencies Problem Solving & Analysis Works systematically to analyze issues, identify root causes, and determine effective solutions Decision Quality Makes sound, timely decisions under pressure Communication Communicates clearly and maintains effective working relationships Technical Learning Actively builds knowledge of distribution operations, systems, and tools Skills Knowledge of power system devices and switching procedures Understanding of policies, procedures, and safety regulations Ability to learn gas and electric distribution systems Ability to interpret maps and schematic diagrams Ability to utilize systems and interpret system diagrams Education Technical degree in electrical power, gas distribution, or related field, or equivalent experience Experience Three years of related experience or equivalent Experience in operations, engineering, or field roles preferred Work Location & Expectations This role is 100% onsite at our Madison, WI headquarters. Shift rotation includes nights, weekends, and holidays Must be able to report to work within one hour if called Must complete training and demonstrate proficiency within 12 months Pre-employment will require satisfactory completion of a background check and drug screen.
