Industrial Maintenance Mechanic
Job Description
This role offers the opportunity to work as a skilled Maintenance Mechanic within a unionized manufacturing environment. You will perform preventive, corrective, and routine maintenance on production equipment and facility systems, ensuring safe and efficient operation. The position requires hands-on mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical work, as well as the proficient use of hand tools and shop machinery. New hires typically train on day shift and, in accordance with seniority rules, transition to an off-shift after the training period.
Responsibilities
Perform preventive, corrective, and routine maintenance on manufacturing equipment, machinery, and facility systems.
Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
Safely and proficiently operate hand tools, shop machinery, and related maintenance equipment.
Interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, and equipment documentation to diagnose and repair issues.
Carry out equipment repairs, changeovers, and adjustments to support production requirements.
Conduct inspections on equipment and systems to identify wear, defects, and potential failures.
Perform mechanical and industrial maintenance tasks, including work on motors and related components.
Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures while performing maintenance and production support activities.
Operate equipment and tools only in accordance with training, certification, and established guidelines.
Maintain a clean, orderly, and organized work area to support safety and efficiency.
Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production and maintenance goals.
Comply with union guidelines, company policies, and work rules at all times.
Perform all assigned maintenance work for which you are qualified, adapting to changing priorities and operational needs.
Support production or operational duties as assigned, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.
Essential Skills
1-2 years of manufacturing experience, or equivalent experience in a similar industrial environment.
Experience as a machinist or in a comparable mechanical trade.
Journeyman L&I license or completion of an approved apprenticeship program, or a combination of equivalent training and experience.
Background in facility maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing setting.
Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance and repair.
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems, including hydraulics and pneumatics.
Experience with industrial maintenance, including motors and related components.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical or mechanical schematics.
Competence in basic electrical maintenance and troubleshooting.
Ability to work assigned shifts, including off-shifts after completion of training.
Strong attendance, reliability, and dependability in a production environment.
Willingness to learn and follow detailed procedures and standardized work instructions.
Ability to work effectively in a unionized environment and comply with collective bargaining agreements.
Commitment to following all safety, quality, and operational procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Prior manufacturing, production, or operations experience is preferred and may vary by role.
Experience in industrial maintenance within a heavy manufacturing environment is an advantage.
Familiarity with inspection equipment and practices used to assess machinery condition.
Experience performing changeovers and setup on production equipment.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including production and supervision.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under time constraints.
Demonstrated ability to maintain an organized work area and manage multiple tasks.
Comfort working under established union rules, policies, and work practices.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.84 - $36.84/hr.
