Job Description
The Data Management Specialist supports a major data migration initiative by transforming serial number data from multiple legacy customer formats into a coordinated and consolidated format. This role focuses on locating and reviewing technical documentation, determining serial number requirements, and accurately documenting findings to ensure data consistency, traceability, and quality across systems.
Responsibilities
Locate and retrieve relevant documents in the MRP system (ARAS) to support data migration activities.
Review internal drawings (DWG) to understand existing serial number structures and requirements.
Review customer drawings and specifications, when applicable, to interpret and align customer-specific serial number requirements.
Determine the appropriate serial requirement @type for each record or product based on technical documentation and specifications.
Document all references, notes, and decisions related to serial number requirements in a clear and organized manner.
Identify and flag opportunities to simplify and standardize serial number schemes across different customer formats.
Perform accurate data entry into databases and digital platforms to support configuration and data management.
Use technical writing skills to clearly describe data structures, rules, and procedures related to serial number management.
Collaborate with relevant stakeholders, such as configuration management, data management, and systems engineering teams, to ensure alignment on data standards.
Maintain high attention to detail when reading and interpreting manufacturing date codes and other information on small production parts.
Follow established procedures and best practices for data quality, documentation, and version control throughout the migration process.
Essential Skills
Minimum 2-year associate degree with a focus on technical writing.
Experience with databases in areas such as configuration management, data management, systems engineering, or technical writing roles.
Proficiency in database management tools, including MS Excel, Microsoft Access, or Power BI.
Strong technical writing skills to document requirements, references, and process notes clearly and accurately.
Ability to perform precise data entry and maintain high standards of data accuracy.
Ability to frequently use personal computers, databases, and digital platforms, as well as office productivity equipment such as copy machines and printers.
Ability to frequently use hands, fingers, and arms to reach, handle, touch, or feel equipment, materials, and computers.
Ability to frequently move within the office environment as needed to access documents, equipment, and colleagues.
Frequent use of close vision and the ability to adjust focus for reviewing documents and on-screen data.
Ability to read manufacturing date codes and other detailed markings on small production parts.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Background in configuration management, data management, systems engineering, or related technical disciplines.
Experience working with MRP systems, particularly ARAS or similar platforms.
Strong analytical skills to interpret technical drawings and customer specifications.
Ability to identify and propose simplification opportunities in complex data structures.
Attention to detail and accuracy when working with serial numbers, codes, and technical documentation.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple documents, references, and data sources.
Effective written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Comfort working with digital tools and office software in a technical documentation environment.

This role operates in an office-based environment that relies heavily on the use of personal computers, databases, and digital platforms. The position requires frequent interaction with an MRP system (such as ARAS), office productivity software, and tools like MS Excel, Microsoft Access, and Power BI. The work involves regular use of office equipment, including copy machines and computer printers. The Data Management Specialist frequently uses hands, fingers, and arms to handle documents, equipment, and computer input devices, and moves throughout the office to access files, resources, and collaborate with colleagues. The work requires frequent close vision and the ability to adjust focus while reviewing detailed technical drawings, digital documents, and small manufacturing date codes on production parts. The environment is structured, detail-oriented, and focused on accuracy, documentation quality, and data integrity.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
