Job Responsibilities: Moving Furniture and Equipment - 31 % Perform furniture, equipment, and specialized materials moving services to support university operations and events. Load and unload furniture, specialized equipment, and related materials onto and off trucks, using appropriate padding, restraints, and handling techniques to prevent damage and injury. Locate, relocate, and position desks, chairs, tables, bookcases, specialized equipment, and other office or campus furnishings. Arrange and set up furniture, equipment, and campus event resources for classrooms, meetings, and special events according to instructions or work orders. Operate large moving trucks as required to transport materials between campus locations. Ensure proper use, care, and routine maintenance of equipment and supplies, and promote safe and efficient work practices. Recycling - 31 % Perform recycling operations to support campus sustainability. Collect recyclable materials from designated areas throughout the university and sort materials into appropriate recycling streams. Weigh and log recycling materials to track volumes and maintain accurate records. Operate recycling equipment and vehicles, including baling machines, forklifts, and trucks, to safely transport and process materials. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive or confidential materials from collection through the end of the recycling process. Prepare recyclables for processing and deliver recycling containers to support campus events. Ensure proper care, use, and maintenance of recycling equipment and supplies. Event Set Up - 15 % Perform event setup and logistical support to ensure successful campus events. Execute detailed setup plans, including arranging staging, tables, chairs, signage, pipe and drape, and other event infrastructure, ensuring layouts match diagrams and comply with safety and accessibility standards. Load, transport, and unload event equipment using appropriate tools such as carts and dollies, safeguarding materials during transit and maintaining organized storage before and after events. Prepare event venues by ensuring spaces are clean, presentable, and properly arranged. Respond to on-site issues such as missing items, last-minute layout changes, or equipment malfunctions, and report concerns to the supervisor. Follow university and department safety protocols, including safe lifting practices, proper use of equipment, and reporting unsafe conditions. S cheduling - 5 % Perform scheduling and coordination functions to support efficient campus operations. Schedule and track moving and recycling work orders, including furniture, equipment, and material relocations across campus. Coordinate and schedule deliveries of event equipment and project-related materials, ensuring alignment with event timelines, building access, and staffing availability. Communicate with campus departments and internal crews to coordinate delivery times and resolve scheduling conflicts. Schedule the movement of materials for special projects and ongoing operations, and time requirements to ensure timely job completion. Close out work orders upon completion. Fork Lift Operation - 10 % Operate forklifts to support safe and efficient campus operations. Perform pre-use inspections of forklifts to ensure proper working condition and report maintenance needs as required. Safely operate forklifts in accordance with university policies, training requirements, and applicable safety regulations while moving palletized and non-palletized materials across campus. Use forklifts to load, unload, and transport recycling equipment and materials. Operate forklifts on uneven surfaces and, when authorized, on city streets while maintaining awareness of pedestrians, vehicles, and surrounding hazards. Ensure proper handling, securing, and placement of loads, and maintain safe work practices at all times. Space Cleaning - 5 % Perform custodial and sanitation services across campus facilities, including classrooms, offices, lecture halls, laboratories, residence halls, dining halls, recreation centers, medical school facilities, corridors, entrances, stairwells, and common areas. Responsibilities include routine cleaning tasks such as dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping and disinfecting surfaces, cleaning windows and water fountains, emptying trash and recycling, and resetting furniture. In addition, perform annual deep cleaning and restorative maintenance activities, including stripping and waxing floors, shampooing and extracting carpets, and other intensive cleaning procedures to maintain the long-term appearance, safety, and functionality of campus facilities. Complete additional cleaning and maintenance tasks as assigned to ensure a safe, sanitary, and well-maintained environment. Snow Removal - 3 % Perform snow and ice removal services for building entrances, walkways, and other designated pedestrian areas to ensure safe access during winter weather conditions. Responsibilities include shoveling, applying appropriate ice melt products in accordance with safety and environmental guidelines, and removing residual ice melt materials once snow and ice conditions have cleared. This work may be performed outside of regularly scheduled shifts and may require availability during early mornings, evenings, nights, and weekends based on weather events and operational needs. Valid Drivers License required.
