Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Job Description
The Maintenance Technician will independently maintain, repair, and improve hydraulic-driven presses and auxiliary equipment in a rubber injection manufacturing facility. This role focuses on diagnosing and resolving mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, supporting production uptime across multiple shifts, and contributing to ongoing equipment upgrades and facility improvements.
Responsibilities
Independently modify, repair, install, maintain, improve, and troubleshoot various @types of injection presses and auxiliary equipment in a rubber manufacturing environment.
Diagnose mechanical problems and provide quick, innovative solutions for equipment breakdowns using advanced skills in mechanics, fitting, plumbing, basic welding, metal work, and troubleshooting.
Identify and resolve electrical faults and failures by performing control system analysis and interpreting PLC ladder logic diagrams.
Maintain and troubleshoot plant support equipment including air compressors, chillers, water towers, and fire systems.
Support timely and effective line handovers between shifts by completing accurate documentation and clearly briefing the Maintenance team and Production Supervisors on progress and issues.
Independently conduct preventive maintenance activities according to established PM schedules and standards.
Train other team members to perform equipment changeovers, setups, and takedowns safely and efficiently.
Recommend and implement solutions to both routine and unique equipment problems, including fabricating or modifying components when needed.
Respond to equipment issues promptly and in a customer-focused manner to minimize downtime.
Solve problems independently in line with standard guidelines and procedures, and develop new procedures for non-routine or complex issues as required.
Maintain high standards of organization and housekeeping in all work areas.
Integrate plant, quality, safety, and security policies into all daily activities and decision-making.
Follow all maintenance, sanitation, and Environmental Health and Safety protocols at all times.
Demonstrate reliable attendance and dependability in accordance with company standards.
Perform all other related duties as assigned by leadership.
Essential Skills
7+ years of maintenance experience in a Tier 1 manufacturing environment.
5+ years of electrical troubleshooting experience on industrial machinery.
5+ years of hydraulic troubleshooting experience.
Proven ability to independently modify, repair, install, maintain, improve, and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on presses and auxiliary equipment.
Strong mechanical aptitude, including advanced skills in mechanics, fitting, plumbing, basic welding, metal work, and troubleshooting.
Ability to navigate PLCs to identify issues and interpret PLC ladder logic diagrams for control system analysis.
Hands-on experience with preventive maintenance programs and scheduled PM activities.
Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to develop and implement effective solutions quickly.
Ability to work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors as a quality-focused, service-oriented team player.
Ownership of a basic toolbox suitable for industrial maintenance work.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with stamping equipment.
Experience with plastic injection processes.
Experience with rubber injection processes.
Familiarity with Allen-Bradley PLC systems.
Welding or fabrication experience.
Experience working in a unionized manufacturing environment is beneficial.
Ability to train and mentor others on equipment changeover, setup, and takedown.

Work Environment
This role is based in a rubber injection manufacturing facility that uses hydraulic-driven presses to mold hot rubber into flexible products. The plant has a noticeable hot rubber odor throughout the production areas. The environment is not temperature controlled, so it can be hot in the summer while remaining relatively comfortable in the winter. Operations run across three shifts: 1st shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 2nd shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and 3rd shift from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with the work week on Sunday night for the 3rd shift. The site consists of three large facilities, each approximately 150,000 to 200,000 square feet, located side by side. The company is actively upgrading machinery, including the installation of new presses and enhancements to the ventilation systems. The role involves working around heavy industrial equipment, hydraulic and electrical systems, and plant utilities such as compressors, chillers, and water towers, following all safety and environmental protocols.
