JOB SUMMARY
The Construction Field Manager reports directly to the Grid Manager. This position will be responsible for the direct supervision of 2 Distribution Construction Supervisors. The position will provide strategic leadership for Grid construction activities including, but not limited to, procurement of overhead and underground resources, scheduling and work assignment, contract crew performance, project completion and contractor invoicing. This job also has the responsibility for development and administration of several contracts including, but not limited to, time and equipment, fixed price, hydrovac and traffic control contracts. The position is responsible for driving a culture of Safety Excellence in how we construct and operate our system.
Additionally, this role will work with the Region Distribution Managers, Engineering Supervisors and external stakeholders to ensure customer satisfaction, quality standards of construction and responsiveness to inquiries are met. The successful candidate will work closely with Distribution Construction to effectively and strategically mobilize contract and company resources during storm events. The position will be tasked with developing innovative methods to improve processes, drive efficiencies/productivity and implement strategy.
Education
High School Diploma Required
Four (4) year Bachelor or Bachelor of Science Degree (Preferred)
Experience Requirements
Extensive line construction experience in Distribution required including overhead/underground
Experience managing contractors preferred
Distribution operating experience required
2 years of Supervisory/leadership experience required
Extensive Storm Restoration Experience required
Experience with Contract administration and execution preferred

Responsible for the overall performance of the Construction Supervisors, Construction Coordinators, and field contract employees
Maintain good working relationships with the leadership of contract partners to drive positive results for our company and our customers
The Construction Field Manager is responsible for overall performance of the construction arm of the Grid portfolio and the teamwork needed to ensure the safe, economic construction of the overhead and underground distribution system.
Support contract development for contractual needs as required
Ensure a wide variety of suppliers is available for use through mentoring and relationships
Utilize appropriate performance management tools to improve performance of employees and contract workforce
Review contractor bids for high level accuracy and appropriateness
Continually improve customer satisfaction by striving to exceed both internal and external customers' expectations, meeting all safety goals, increasing contract personnel productivity, and improving the distribution system reliability through quality construction
Timely and effective response to all storm restoration needs
Recognize and own high profile and critical customer jobs with a focus on timely and effective upward communication to key internal parties.Plan appropriate resources needed to complete these jobs safely, on time, on budget, and with minimal external/stakeholder impact.
Reinforce and manage expectations around healthy challenges and a questioning attitude in the work environment. Seek out and execute on opportunities to increase trust between employees, between supervisors, and between employees and supervisors.
