Project Overview:
Bechtel is the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) partner on the Northrop Grumman team to deliver the Sentinel Program, which is modernizing the ground-based leg of the U.S. nuclear deterrent triad, including intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) systems and launch infrastructure. Bechtel's scope of service in Sentinel's current Engineering & Manufacturing Development phase focuses on the ground infrastructure component of the program.
A major contractor for the United States and allied governments, Bechtel has handled such efforts as chemical weapons demilitarization projects, missile-defense, infrastructure, base operations, procurement and project management, and restoration and recovery spanning half a century. Job Summary:
This position is for a Deputy Civil, Structural and Architectural (CSA) Engineering Group Supervisor, who will assist in leading the CSA team to prepare designs associated with DOD and USAF projects. This role is responsible for the design delivery and supporting team management for the Bechtel work products and designs, as well as for coordinating the scope and integration of work with internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs. #LI-LM1
Major Responsibilities:
Makes decisions independently concerning problems within the discipline on the project.
Represents the discipline on the project and with the client to resolve technical questions and as required to coordinate work
Supports design development engineering for the project by preparing studies, drawings, calculations, specifications, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements
Responsible for supervising engineers and helping to execute assignments concerned with specialized unique engineering requirements in a global business unit
Provides technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, and coordinating these assignments Involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope, and may involve development of novel concepts, approaches, and solutions
Development of subcontractor scopes of work for execution of construction work implementing design documents
Review vendor information from subcontractors Execute to schedule requirement while maintaining a high degree of quality in work product
Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team, such as geotechnical engineering and GIS Manage discipline work process execution and assure technical adequacy in accordance with company procedures, contract, and industry codes and standards
Demonstrate ownership of assigned actions to self and group and shows initiative in problem solving
Build an inclusive team environment where all are able and expected to contribute to the maximum of their capabilities
Create meaningful goals working with team and ensure goals are met Interface with the ultimate USAF client/customer for Northrop Grumman for technical issue studies, resolutions, and recommendations.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience?
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Basic Qualifications:
-Possess active security clearance or ability to obtain security clearance. Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Registered Professional Engineer in USA (Civil or Structural Engineering).
Minimum Qualifications:
-Experience planning and executing work in an Earned Value Management System environment
-Experience with project controls including scheduling, estimating engineering efforts, planning, and work packaging
-Prior engineering team leadership experience, relevant experience includes previous experience supervising others
-Knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods
-Experience with Building Information Modeling and information automation
-Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
-Knowledge of precedents in the discipline and of principles and practices of related disciplines
-Knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved
-Knowledge of industry /regulatory codes and standards, and design and/or layout criteria pertinent to the discipline
-Knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, applications of methods, materials, and computers in the discipline
Preferred Qualifications:
-Prior construction oversight experience
-Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ISO-9000
-Prior experience working with government agencies, preferably the Department of Defense
-Experience with procurement automation tools
-Intermediate knowledge of developing CSI Masterformat specifications, or SpecsIntact
-Design experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building
