This role oversees data center construction projects within a distributed GPU-as-a-service (GPUaaS) program, ensuring that facilities are built safely, on schedule, and in alignment with strategic objectives. The Construction Manager plans, directs, and coordinates activities related to construction execution, engineering, planning, and project roll-out, while providing clear reporting and continuous improvement feedback to program leadership. The position is remote but requires frequent travel to multiple data center development sites across the United States.
Responsibilities
Travel to GPUaaS data center development sites across the United States at least once per month for each assigned project.
Tour active construction sites with the Service Provider's on-site team to inspect and validate the progress of data center facilities construction.
Compare actual construction progress to reported status and document any discrepancies, delays, or emerging risks.
Identify key risks related to schedule, quality, or execution and communicate them clearly to stakeholders.
When progress is behind schedule, forecast realistic timelines to achieve key milestones and completion dates.
Capture lessons learned, best practices, and new ideas from each site visit to support continuous improvement for future projects.
Prepare and deliver structured reports of all findings, including progress assessments, risks, and recommendations, to the GPUaaS Program Manager.
Apply knowledge of production processes, quality control, and cost management to help optimize construction execution and resource utilization.
Use project management tools and methodologies to track progress, coordinate activities, and support strategic planning and resource allocation.
Collaborate effectively with on-site crews, service providers, and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals and expectations.
Work independently to manage time, travel, and reporting deadlines while overseeing multiple development sites.
Maintain a strong focus on safety and compliance with site safety requirements and protective equipment standards during all site visits.

Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field.
5-7 years of experience in construction, including planning, construction execution, and data center construction.
At least 5 years of data center construction execution experience.
At least 5 years of planning experience related to construction projects.
At least 5 years of progress tracking experience on construction projects.
Experience in crew supervision, project planning, progress tracking, and broad knowledge of construction execution.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
PMI or PMP certification preferred.
Experience working with or overseeing data center construction projects.
Interest in learning new contracting methods for AI capacity within the industry.
Motivation to build relationships and gain exposure to different companies and teams through multi-site project work.
Curiosity and openness to capturing lessons learned and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Work Environment
This is a remote position with significant travel, requiring approximately 75% travel to multiple data center development sites across the United States. The typical workload is about 40 hours per week, generally structured around 10-hour days, with monthly travel to sites located in the Washington, DC area and other locations as needed. The role involves frequent on-site presence in active construction environments, where safety and adherence to site protocols are critical. You will use standard office and project management tools, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio, to prepare reports, track progress, and support planning activities. On-site work requires the use of specific safety equipment, including a monitor and headset for remote collaboration, as well as a Class 2 safety helmet, Class 2 or higher safety vest, cut and impact resistant gloves, ANSI Z87.1 or higher safety glasses or visor, composite toe work boots made of leather or leather alternative that extend at least 4 inches above the ankle (no low-cut or sneaker styles), and a Class 2 or higher reflective jacket suitable for cold and wet weather. The position offers exposure to innovative contracting methods for AI capacity and provides the opportunity to collaborate with a variety of companies and professionals across the data center construction industry.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $87.00/hr.
