Job Description:
Metro State University, Minnesota's public, urban university, and four-time recipient of the Insight into Diversity Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award is seeking to hire at least one Admissions Counselor. This is a full-time position within the Admissions department.
Responsibilities:
Recruit and counsel prospective students on the admissions policies and procedures for admission to Metro State University.
Responsible for developing and managing annual recruitment plan for individual territory.
Participate as Admissions representative on various institution-wide committees and teams.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
The following qualifications are required of all applicants seeking consideration for this position. Only applicants whose resumes clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for the position:
Master's degree or Bachelor's degree plus one year of professional experience OR two years of professional experience OR an equivalent combination of post-secondary training, education, and/or professional experience.
Experience in college admissions, student services, recruiting, academic advising, sales, marketing, and/or related experience working with post-traditional students in an urban environment with diverse populations.
Excellent public speaker, demonstrated ability to write concisely and accurately, and documented organizational skills and experience.
Ability to work flexible hours, with occasional nights and weekends.
Must have a valid driver's license and ability to travel within the Twin Cities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with cultivating and maintaining collaborative relationships.
Demonstrated experience serving students, community members, partners, and organizations from marginalized communities (Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color). Bilingual in English and Spanish, Somali or Hmong a plus .
Experience collaborating with post-traditional learners.
Ability to work effectively in a diverse and dynamic multi-campus organization within a team-oriented environment.
Must be articulate and possess outstanding interpersonal skills. The ability to work as a team member to achieve departmental goals and objectives is essential.
Physical Requirements of the Job: Requires occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as file folders, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.

Salary: This is a Minnesota State University Association of Administrative and Service Faculty (MSUAASF) Range B position with a salary range of $ 47,788.00 (minimum) to $ 78,458.00 (maximum). Salary is commensurate with education and experience, and is determined by the collective bargaining agreement between Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (Minnesota State) and the MSUAASF organization.
NOTE: The organizational budgeted maximum annual salary is $58,705.00
