The Electrical Engineer will contribute to projects ranging from small facility modifications to complex EPC contracts in industries such as pulp and paper, chemicals, food and beverage, consumer products, and pharmaceuticals. The position involves developing conceptual designs, detailed engineering documentation, and construction specifications, as well as providing occasional on-site support at project and construction sites.
Responsibilities
Design power system facilities and equipment, including electric power generating, receiving, and distribution stations, and related distribution systems and equipment.
Develop conceptual layouts and sketches that drive efficient and cost-effective designs on a project-by-project basis.
Participate in the planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating detailed phases of electrical engineering projects.
Develop equipment specifications that align with project requirements, applicable standards, and client expectations.
Prepare construction specifications and detailed contractor scope of work documents for electrical installations.
Direct the preparation of, or personally prepare, drawings and documentation for specific equipment and materials used in construction and equipment installation.
Produce comprehensive work products such as one-line diagrams, wiring drawings, panel layout drawings, motor schematics, instrument loop sheets, conduit and tray routing drawings, and contractor scope documents.
Work with systems and equipment grounding requirements, including high resistance grounding, building grounding, and isolated grounding systems.
Inspect completed installations to verify conformance with design intent, equipment specifications, and safety standards.
Provide on-site start-up support for new or modified electrical systems to ensure proper commissioning and operation.
Handle onsite plant projects with minimal supervision, working directly with client engineers and maintenance teams.
Collaborate effectively with internal project teams and client stakeholders, contributing engineering expertise and challenging the status quo when appropriate.
Maintain organized project documentation, meet deadlines, and operate within established budgets while supporting multiple projects.
Essential Skills
8-10 years of electrical engineering experience, specifically in industrial power distribution and related systems.
Strong background in engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCm) projects.
Experience with the design and installation of medium- and low-voltage distribution equipment in consulting engineering and construction environments.
Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including NEC, ANSI, NEMA, and NFPA.
Ability to read, interpret, and work with Autodesk Revit models and documentation.
Capability with CAD systems, including proficiency in AutoCAD.
Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering.
PE license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate, or EIT with the ability and intent to obtain a PE license (preferred but not required).

Demonstrated ability to stay well organized, meet deadlines, and operate within project budgets.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively and present engineering concepts clearly.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to add value to clients through innovative engineering solutions.
Willingness to challenge the status quo constructively to improve designs, processes, and project outcomes.
Experience working in heavy industrial markets such as pulp and paper, chemical processing, consumer packaged goods, food and beverage, power, and other industrial process manufacturing environments.
Experience working within an engineering consulting environment, supporting multiple clients and projects.
Ability to build strong working relationships with client engineers, maintenance teams, and internal project staff.
Comfort with occasional travel to project and construction sites for inspections, coordination, and start-up support.
Interest in contributing to a growing engineering consultancy and supporting continuous improvement of engineering practices and standards.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid role that combines office-based and remote work, with an expectation of approximately three days in the office and two days working remotely each week. The position involves limited travel to project and construction sites, generally not exceeding one week at a time, with travel scheduled to allow you to be home on weekends. You will work within a collaborative engineering consulting environment that supports industrial process manufacturers across multiple markets, using tools such as Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD to deliver full-service EPCm solutions. The culture emphasizes growth, agility, and the ability to move projects forward without excessive bureaucracy, offering opportunities to take ownership of work, collaborate closely with clients, and contribute meaningfully to a rapidly expanding organization.
