THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports the safe operation of equipment and the upkeep of Presque Isle State Park. Specific duties will entail operating vehicles, performing maintenance tasks, and assisting with various park projects. As an Equipment Operator A, you will perform the following duties:
Operate Equipment:Run vehicles and machinery under 26,000 pounds for construction, transport, grounds work, and snow removal
Perform Maintenance:Complete repairs, preventive maintenance, and cleaning on equipment and park structures
Manual Labor:Carry out tasks such as loading materials, mowing, beach cleaning, digging, and general park upkeep
Construction Tasks:Assist with trenching, foundation digging, and installation of water or sewer lines
Visitor Assistance:Provide information to park guests and report issues to park staff
Crew Support:Work alone or help lead small crews during park maintenance projects

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment in approximately March 2027.
Work will be scheduled 5 days/37.5 hours per week, and will include a 30-minute lunch. Work days and shifts will vary and will include holidays, weekends, and evenings as needed.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Six months experience in the operation and maintenance of large vans, buses and single-chassis trucks with a gross vehicle weight of 10,001 pounds or more ;or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training .
Special Requirement:
This position requires p ossession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.
