Job Title: Renovation Technician
Job Description
Join a hands-on renovation team responsible for updating and refreshing vacant apartments. You will work in a crew of two, using your skills in basic plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and drywall repair to prepare units for new residents. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with tools, takes pride in quality workmanship, and can handle a variety of light construction tasks.
Responsibilities
Work in a team of two to renovate and refresh vacant apartment units according to project specifications and timelines.
Perform basic plumbing tasks, including removing and installing faucets, replacing shower heads, and ensuring fixtures operate properly.
Carry out basic electrical work, such as installing ceiling fans and other simple electrical fixtures in accordance with safety guidelines.
Complete basic carpentry tasks, including installing baseboards, door casings, and other trim components to a clean and finished standard.
Patch drywall by repairing holes and, when needed, removing and replacing sections of drywall to create smooth, paint-ready surfaces.
Use hand and power tools safely and effectively, including sawzalls, cordless drills or impacts, and finish nail guns, to complete daily tasks.
Inspect completed work for quality and accuracy, making adjustments as needed to meet renovation standards.
Maintain a clean and organized work area within each apartment unit and common spaces during and after renovation activities.
Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working with tools, materials, and within occupied or semi-occupied buildings.
Collaborate and communicate with your teammate and supervisors to coordinate tasks, resolve issues, and ensure efficient project completion.
Essential Skills
Demonstrated proficiency in basic construction and renovation tasks within residential environments.
Ability to perform basic plumbing work, including changing faucets and shower heads.
Ability to perform basic electrical tasks such as installing ceiling fans and similar fixtures.
Basic carpentry skills, including installing baseboards, door casings, and related trim.
Experience with basic drywall repair, including patching holes and replacing sections of drywall.
Proficiency with hand and power tools such as sawzalls, cordless drills or impacts, and finish nail guns.
Capability to follow safety practices and use tools and equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
Ability to work effectively as part of a two-person team and communicate clearly on the job.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
General construction experience in apartment, residential, or light commercial settings.
Comfort working on multiple trades in a single day, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and drywall.
Strong attention to detail to ensure a clean, finished appearance in renovated units.
Ability to organize tasks and manage time to complete unit renovations efficiently.

Work Environment
This role is based on-site in residential apartment communities, focusing on renovating vacant units. You will work primarily indoors within apartment interiors, handling tools and materials in a construction-style environment. The position requires regular use of hand and power tools, including sawzalls, cordless drills or impacts, and finish nail guns, as well as handling plumbing and electrical fixtures, baseboards, door casings, and drywall. You can expect a physically active workday that involves standing, bending, lifting materials, and moving between units. Hours may follow a standard daytime schedule typical of renovation and maintenance work. Attire should be practical and suitable for construction and renovation activities, such as durable work clothing and closed-toe footwear appropriate for a jobsite environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Montclair, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
