The Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting a dynamic and growing organization by driving accurate financial reporting and continuous process improvement. This position focuses on month-end close activities, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance while contributing to scalable systems that support long-term success. The ideal candidate takes ownership of their work, demonstrates strong attention to detail, and collaborates effectively with team members and leadership to ensure timely and reliable financial information.
Responsibilities
Participate as an integral member of the month-end close process by preparing and posting journal entries, performing flux analysis, and ensuring the close is completed accurately and on time.
Meet all task deadlines by ensuring all journal entries are properly recorded, reviewed, and verified for accuracy.
Ensure the reliability and integrity of financial information recorded in the general ledger by following established accounting procedures and controls.
Prepare and balance monthly cash reconciliations for assigned entities, identify the root cause of discrepancies, and make appropriate corrections.
Manage assigned balance sheet accounts and schedules, ensuring they are accurate, complete, and properly supported.
Prepare monthly journal entries, both routine and non-routine, for revenue, receivables, accruals, and reclasses to support accurate financial statement reporting.
Complete assigned account reconciliations by the 25th of every month, ensuring all variances are investigated and resolved.
Maintain clear documentation of accounting processes and internal controls in accordance with established workbooks and guidelines.
Support ad hoc projects and financial analyses as assigned, providing data, insights, and recommendations as needed.
Adapt to changing business needs, including working overtime when required to meet critical deadlines.
Assist with additional tasks and projects as necessary to support the accounting and finance function.
Foster open and effective communication with team members and management to ensure alignment and transparency across the organization.
Essential Skills
BA/BS degree in Accounting or Finance required.
0-2 years of experience with significant accounting responsibilities.
Hands-on experience with journal entries, month-end close, and general ledger activities.
Experience with account reconciliations, including cash, balance sheet accounts, and supporting schedules.
Familiarity with accounts payable processes and financial statement preparation.
Working knowledge of balance sheet and income statement structures.
Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and identify issues or trends.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned tasks.
High level of attention to detail and accuracy in all work performed.
Ability to work cooperatively and effectively in a team environment.
Self-starter with solid organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including working with spreadsheets and data analysis.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Advanced knowledge of Excel, including an understanding of database concepts, data filtering, and the use of mathematical, logical, statistical, and financial functions, is a plus.
Demonstrated "can-do" positive attitude and willingness to support process improvements.
Ability to adapt to evolving business needs and contribute to building scalable accounting systems.
Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism when interacting with colleagues across the organization.
Work Environment
The work environment is professional, collaborative, and fast-paced, supporting a dynamic and growing organization. The role involves regular use of Microsoft Excel and other accounting tools to manage journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger activities. Work is primarily office-based, with a focus on meeting month-end and other critical deadlines, which may occasionally require overtime to support the needs of the business. Team members communicate frequently with each other and with management to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. A professional work appearance is expected in this environment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.85 - $31.25/hr.
