The F135 Fan design team is seeking an experienced Design Engineering professional who works independently. Experience in commercial and/or military Fan, Low Pressure Compressor, and/or High Pressure Compressor design is desired. Static hardware design experience is desired. If you have relevant design background or experience in these areas and possess the skills and motivation to bring new ideas into practice, we would like to like to hear from you.
What You Will Do
Design support across all phases of the design cycle, preliminary through detailed design, validation, manufacturing, and operational service and will work on the designs of any component within the fan module (i.e. cases, frames, IBR's, bypass ducts, kinematics, etc...)
Support the existing installed F135 fleet through enhanced commonality and optimization of components to ensure that the current and future needs of the business and customer are met.
Expand repairability/maintainability for our military customer and MRO facilities as well as work with quality clinic and related departments to support the test and verification of field issues
Design and implements common procedures and standard work across the organization to optimize efficiency and quality. Also develop data and makes layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal.
Design and review layouts of components, calculate stack-up of detail components, and perform major cost studies consisting of new or existing details and/or marked prints and all supporting documentation, when necessary, to facilitate operations and ensure that established objectives and budgets are achieved.
Resolve design problems of difficult-to-complex scope to ensure project completion as well as review completed layouts and drawings to ensure clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning.
Communicate with the other engineering personnel to coordinate the interrelated design and ensure project completion. Also, provide technical leadership on IPT's and when required, assists in training less experienced engineers to help them diagnose and solve problems and build capabilities.
Qualifications You Must Have
B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering with 8+ years of Mechanical Design engineering experience OR
Advanced degree with 5+ years of experience
Experience with hardware, reading blueprints, and manufacturing methods
Experience with engineering standard work and with Class I and/or II EC process
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
M.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Experience with fault tree investigation tool
Proficiency in FEA, and/or classical methods of analysis
Proficiency in Teamcenter, NX
Active Government Security Clearance

Compression Systems Engineering (CSE)
Compression Systems Engineering is responsible for the design, development, and in service support of all fans low-pressure and high-pressure compressors for commercial and military engine models. CSE is responsible for the identification and maturation of new technologies for these products.
Technical disciplines in CSE include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, and Product Definition.

Onsite : Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
Candidates will learn more about role @type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee's personal responsibility.
This position is open to internal applicants only within Pratt & Whitney. To help sure up our military programs, we are looking to reallocate resources to USG direct charging roles and therefore consider this to be an internal to Pratt movement. We may look to open these opportunities upon more broadly once we complete the initial Pratt talent moves.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
