Job Description
This role operates and maintains surface mount technology (SMT) equipment on a swing shift to support high-quality electronic assembly production. You will set up and run SMT machines, monitor board quality, and complete documentation while working in a clean, organized, and team-oriented manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Operate SMT equipment including Juki Pick & Place machines, reflow ovens, automated optical inspection (AOI) systems, and wash machines to produce electronic assemblies.
Set up and tear down SMT machines according to detailed work instructions and setup sheets.
Load feeders with electronic components in accordance with setup documentation and verify that the correct components are used.
Position printed circuit boards (PCBs) on machine fixtures and ensure they are properly aligned for processing.
Monitor machine operation throughout the run, identifying issues and intervening as needed to maintain consistent quality and throughput.
Make minor machine adjustments and clear machine jams safely and efficiently to minimize downtime.
Perform visual inspection of assembled boards to identify defects, verify solder quality, and ensure compliance with quality standards.
Follow production documentation accurately, including work instructions, process guidelines, and quality requirements.
Complete production records and batch logs accurately and in a timely manner to support traceability and process control.
Use basic hand tools as needed for assembly-related tasks and machine setup.
Follow all safety procedures and protocols, including proper handling of equipment and materials.
Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve production issues and support continuous improvement efforts.
Maintain a clean and organized work area in line with lean manufacturing principles.
Essential Skills
Manufacturing or production experience in an assembly or production line environment (preferred).
Mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn operation of SMT equipment such as pick and place machines, reflow ovens, AOI systems, and wash machines.
Ability to stand during the majority of the shift and perform repetitive tasks safely.
Strong vision and hand-eye coordination for precise electronic assembly and inspection.
Ability to follow detailed written instructions and production documentation accurately.
Basic computer skills for operating equipment interfaces and completing electronic records.
Attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality in all tasks.
Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively with coworkers.
Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to different tasks as production needs change.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
No prior SMT experience required; comprehensive on-the-job training is provided.
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience with electronic assembly or use of hand tools in a production environment is a plus.
Comfort working in a lean manufacturing environment with an emphasis on organization and continuous improvement.

Work Environment
The role is based in a lean manufacturing environment that is clean, organized, bright, and generally quiet. At times, you may be exposed to a light paint-like smell in certain areas of the facility. You will work with SMT production equipment such as Juki Pick & Place machines, reflow ovens, automated optical inspection (AOI) systems, wash machines, and standard hand tools. The company provides electronics design, manufacturing, and test services for a wide range of industries, including consumer products, medical, aviation, space, and defense, offering exposure to diverse and technically advanced products. The position is on a swing shift and requires standing for most of the shift while working on the production floor.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
