Discipline Description
In systems engineer roles, individuals focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining complex systems and infrastructure to support the operation and functionality of the organizations IT environments. Systems Engineers coordinate software application and database installation on server resources to ensure proper system setup and adherence to security standards. They are responsible for troubleshooting complex system wide issues involving all layers of the application and infrastructure stack and work with all other IT roles to ensure maximum system availability. Systems engineers install hardware, configure software, and deploy systems into production environments following best practices and industry standards. Systems Engineers are required to understand the technical design and implementation of all IT roles in order to develop system architecture to match business needs and maintain the availability of the environment. They are required to have knowledge of most business functions from both a systems perspective as well as practical implementation. This includes Purchasing, Budgeting, Project Management, Program Management, Security, Standardization, etc.

Some Typical Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Responsible for imaging and configuring PC devices using custom OS images in strict adherence to technical specifications while ensuring UEFI configurations comply with federal cybersecurity standards. Duties include performing hardware address registration to enhance network security, managing encrypted media through centralized management systems, and supporting cybersecurity operations, such as maintaining compliance with litigation hold requirements and data retention policies. Additionally, the role requires diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues efficiently to minimize downtime during load-testing procedures. This position operates in Federal Government environments and complies with stringent physical, information, and cybersecurity protocols. Responsibilities also include conducting daily warehouse tasks like receiving materials, tagging accountable equipment, and maintaining inventory records, as well as carrying out pre-deployment verification for critical systems, assisting with device deployment and data transfer processes, and sanitizing end-of-life equipment following organizational policies. Responsible for managing RFID systems for asset security, track device lifecycles forproper usage and replacement planning, and leverage tools like the Footprints application to address site personnel issues effectively. Strong asset management, proficiency in Excel, and the ability to meet deadlines while managing time effectively are crucial. The role also includes mentoring junior staff, driving change through continuous improvement, adapting to change, monitoring emerging IT trends, ensuring timely project completion, and communicating effectively with team members.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in relevant field
Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered
Proficient in imaging and configuring PC devices with custom OS images in strict compliance with technical specifications.
Configure and secure device UEFI to comply with organizational and federal cybersecurity standards.
Perform hardware address registration to enhance network security.
Manage and configure encrypted media using centralized management systems.

Demonstrated expertise in promptly diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues to minimize downtime during load-testing procedures.
Ability to operate effectively in Federal Government environments while complying with strict physical security, information security, and cybersecurity requirements.
Conduct daily warehouse operations, such as receiving materials, tagging accountable equipment, and managing inventory records.
Perform pre-deployment verification for critical systems and assist with device deployment/data transfer.
Proficiency in sanitizing end-of-life equipment to ensure proper disposal in compliance with organizational policies.
Experience in managing RFID systems, including system engineering, implementation, and ensuring asset security.
Monitor and track the lifecycle of devices to ensure proper usage and replacement planning.
