About the Role
We're looking for a dedicated Operations Manager to join our team and help us continue delivering the level of care our patients and families deserve. In this role, you'll be a vital part of our administrative team, ensuring excellent service, collaboration, and patient outcomes in a fast-paced healthcare environment. This role i n tegrates clinical testing resources and processes for optimal efficiency, quality and service across all technical units of the hospital clinical laboratory. As the Operations Manager, you will be the technical supervisor of Chemistry, Hematology and Microbiology Labs.
What You'll Do
Clinical Service: Under the direction of the Laboratory Medical Director and Laboratory Administrative Director, and in coordination with lab leadership team, organizes technical resources to meet or exceed service requirements, quality standards and productivity benchmarks in the hospital clinical laboratory.
Process Integration : Implements and integrates new technical processes, tests, methods, instrumentation, and procedures by investigating alternatives, preparing proposals, and monitoring progress. Coordinates with patient care personnel, clients, affiliated labs and other business partners to optimize laboratory practice while maintaining accreditation and licensing standards. Serve on or ensure effective participation on Lab/ED Committee, Infection Prevention Committee, and other inter-departmental groups as assigned. Integrates new health information technology to optimize quality, service and resource utilization
Technical Operations : Delegates and supervises the routine operations of the Chemistry, Hematology and Microbiology Laboratories, and clinical reference lab testing. Coordinates with laboratory staff and leadership to lead in the development and implementation of analytic standards and processes. Provides oversight and guidance to achieve benchmarks for best practice operational efficiency and utilization of resources. Serve as committee member, management consultant and leadership liaison to the Lab Scheduling Committee. Serve as leadership liaison to the Facilities/Engineering departments and their contractors about major construction projects or changes impacting the clinical lab facility.
Quality: Ensures optimal analytic quality by developing effective error detection systems and enforcing the laboratory's procedures for testing quality. Provides organizational training as well as guidance relevant to best practices in clinical laboratory science. Facilitates the identification and reporting of operational problems in all segments of the clinical laboratory, and coordinates with all members of lab leadership team as appropriate to resolve issues. Facilitates the standardization of clinical laboratory procedures and processes across all technical sites.
Human Resource Management : Directs the human resource activities of the Chemistry, Hematology and Microbiology Laboratories, including the selection, hiring, training, recognizing, evaluating, mentoring and development of staff. In coordination with the leadership team, develop and monitors training schedules, and standardizes and integrates training, competency and education and communication processes for technical staff in the hospital clinical laboratory. Works with Human Resources to develop programs and initiatives that contribute to a positive work environment. Ensures optimal operations through staff job appraisal, monitoring and corrective action, as well as overseeing scheduling and counseling sessions. Standardizes and integrates fair employment practices across all technical units of the clinical laboratory.
Regulatory and Corporate Compliance : Monitors and evaluates new or revised regulatory agency and industry laws, regulations and standards applicable to assigned areas and ensures that assigned activities comply with all requirements. Prepares Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology and reference laboratory data and documents for maintenance of laboratory licensure and accreditation. Creates audits for Chemistry, Hematology and Microbiology lab operations and clinical reference lab testing to assure compliance with the laboratory's quality program, standard operating procedures and regulatory agencies. Communicates findings to laboratory Manager of Quality and Compliance and the Laboratory Quality Committee.
Financial Management : Directs and participates in the preparation and administration of operating and capital budgets; evaluates staffing, equipment and supply needs; prepares justifications and cost benefit analyses; oversees the procurement of supplies and equipment. Prepares and monitors budgets and submits variance reports. Establishes productivity standards, monitors trends and identifies opportunities for improvement. Manage contracts. Prepares for future state lab network by evaluating cost of services in the clinical lab, designing resource structures to meet future-state rapid response requirements, and developing plans for in-sourcing within the affiliate lab network to achieve improved economies of scale.
Customer Service : Supports enhanced physician practice, patient and staff relations, and service recovery, creating an environment conducive to maximizing internal and external customer satisfaction.

What You Bring
Bachelor's degree or equivalent; minimum of six (6) years pertinent clinical laboratory experience subsequent to qualifying as a technologist of which two (2) years have been spent working in a clinical laboratory having a director at the doctorial level. At least two (2) years of laboratory supervisory experience is required.
Certifications / Licensure: Licensed by NYS Department of Education (SED) as a clinical laboratory technologist. Must have six years of experience as a NYS SED licensed clinical laboratory technologist. Completes a minimum of 12 hours of technical continuing education on an annual basis.
