Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to support a nonprofit organization in Upland, California through a contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role. This role will oversee core accounting activities tied to fund-based financial operations, with a strong focus on accuracy, timely reporting, and month-end completion. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with nonprofit accounting, strong command of QuickBooks Online and Excel, and the ability to manage reconciliations, journal activity, and general ledger integrity in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Manage daily and monthly accounting activity for a nonprofit environment, ensuring financial records align with fund accounting requirements.

Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining accuracy across the general ledger.

Complete month-end close tasks on schedule, including review of balances, supporting schedules, and account analysis.

Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts to confirm completeness and resolve discrepancies promptly.

Monitor financial activity for an annual budget of approximately $7 million and support accurate reporting across funds.

Maintain organized accounting documentation and produce clear audit-ready support for transactions and reconciliations.

Use QuickBooks Online to record, review, and track accounting transactions efficiently.

Build and update Excel-based schedules, reports, and formula-driven workpapers to support financial analysis and close activities. Requirements - Proven experience in senior-level accounting work, preferably within a nonprofit organization.

Hands-on knowledge of fund accounting and financial oversight in a multi-fund environment.

Strong background in month-end close, journal entry preparation, and general ledger maintenance.

Experience performing account and bank reconciliations with a high level of accuracy.

Proficiency in QuickBooks Online for day-to-day accounting operations and reporting.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including use of formulas for reconciliations and financial schedules.

Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain detail-oriented work quality.
