The Quality Control Laboratory Technician performs laboratory testing to evaluate the chemical and physical characteristics of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to support quality control, process control, and product development. This role sets up and operates a variety of laboratory instruments, prepares chemical solutions, and accurately records test results to ensure products meet established specifications and regulatory expectations.
Responsibilities
Perform laboratory tests to determine the chemical and physical characteristics of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods for quality control, process control, and product development purposes.
Set up, adjust, calibrate, and operate laboratory equipment and instruments, including microscopes, micrometers, analytical balances, particle counting equipment, and ion chromatographs.
Test a variety of materials and products, including fabrics, masks, foams, and related items, for cleanliness, absorbency, purity, and other defined quality attributes.
Test samples of manufactured products to verify conformity to internal specifications, customer requirements, and applicable standards.
Prepare chemical solutions according to standard formulae and laboratory procedures to support routine testing and special studies.
Conduct routine testing and chemical analysis on raw materials and finished products in a chemical manufacturing environment.
Perform raw material testing to confirm identity, quality, and suitability for use in production.
Document all test procedures, observations, and results accurately on standardized forms and in laboratory databases.
Follow established quality control and quality assurance procedures to maintain the integrity and reliability of test data.
Collaborate with product development and production teams by providing timely and accurate test results to support troubleshooting and continuous improvement.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory work area in accordance with established safety and housekeeping practices.
Adhere to applicable laboratory, company, and regulatory guidelines while handling chemicals, samples, and equipment.
Essential Skills
1-3 years of experience in a laboratory environment performing testing and measuring activities.
Hands-on experience with wet chemistry techniques and routine chemical analysis.
Practical experience in quality control and quality assurance in a chemical manufacturing or similar environment.
Proficiency in raw material testing and routine testing of in-process and finished products.
Ability to set up, adjust, and operate laboratory equipment such as microscopes, micrometers, analytical balances, particle counting equipment, and ion chromatographs.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy when performing tests and recording results.
Ability to follow standard operating procedures and standard formulae for preparing chemical solutions.
Competence in documenting test results on standardized forms and in databases.
Associate's or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, or one to two years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Solid understanding of basic laboratory safety practices and safe handling of chemicals.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Familiarity with cGMP, FDA, USP, and EPA regulations related to cleaning, disinfection, and contamination control products is a plus.
Awareness of international regulations and standards such as BPR and REACH is advantageous.
Experience working in a quality-driven organization with a strong focus on product validation and compliance.
Ability to work effectively as part of a global product development and quality team.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tests and priorities within defined timelines.
Good written and verbal communication skills for documenting and reporting laboratory findings.
Work Environment
This position is based in a quality control laboratory located within a production facility. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM, for a 40-hour work week. There may be occasional extended workdays during the week of up to 10 hours based on operational needs. The role requires one mandatory Saturday shift per month from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, with the possibility of additional Saturday shifts if business needs increase. The environment is laboratory and production oriented, with regular use of microscopes, micrometers, analytical balances, particle counting equipment, ion chromatographs, and other standard lab instruments. Work involves handling chemicals and various materials such as fabrics, masks, and foams, and requires adherence to established laboratory safety practices and facility procedures.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.00/hr.
