Job Title: Accounting and Finance LeadJob Description
This position serves as the primary accounting and finance lead responsible for overseeing the organization's day-to-day financial operations and reporting. The role ensures an accurate and timely financial close, strong internal controls, and reliable cash flow management. You will act as a key accounting contact for leadership and operations, working cross-functionally with internal teams, vendors, banks, and external partners to analyze financial data, resolve discrepancies, and support informed business decisions. This role also provides ad-hoc financial analysis to support pricing decisions, capital investments, contract negotiations, and ensures that accounting processes effectively support operational and inventory activities.
Responsibilities
Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes to ensure accurate and timely financial results.
Prepare and review journal entries and maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics as requested by leadership and operations.
Support operations by performing inventory adjustments and transfers as requested, ensuring accurate inventory accounting.
Record vendor invoices promptly to ensure timely and accurate accounts payable processing.
Oversee accounts receivable to ensure all invoices are collected promptly, including making weekly calls and sending emails to customers to collect outstanding balances.
Perform bank reconciliations to ensure cash balances are accurate and reconciled.
Record and reconcile line of credit (LOC) payments and related activity.
Maintain a strong system of internal controls over accounting transactions, including reconciling general ledger balances with customer and supplier sub-ledgers throughout the month.
Complete and submit accurate financial statements in accordance with organizational requirements.
Calculate and remit sales tax in a timely and compliant manner.
Provide a system of management cost reports to support operational and strategic decision-making.
Deliver ad-hoc financial analysis as needed, particularly for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
Oversee the submission and payment of federal unemployment taxes to ensure all filings and payments occur on time.
Collaborate with leadership and operations to support business decisions through clear financial insight and recommendations.
Essential Skills
Proven experience with general ledger accounting, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
Hands-on experience with budgeting and forecasting processes.
Strong background in financial reporting, including preparation of financial statements and management reports.
Experience with invoicing, accounts receivable collections, and accounts payable processing.
Demonstrated ability to perform bank reconciliations and manage cash-related transactions.
Experience with tax reporting, including sales tax and federal unemployment tax filings.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis, reporting, and data management.
Ability to maintain and operate within a system of internal controls over accounting transactions.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
Clear and professional communication skills to interact with operations, leadership, vendors, banks, and external partners.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in a manufacturing environment, including familiarity with DVA Manufacturing or similar manufacturing-related systems or processes.
Experience providing ad-hoc financial analysis for pricing decisions, capital investments, and contract negotiations.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred; this requirement may be waived with 5+ years of relevant experience.
Interest in career growth and development, with the potential to advance into a Controller role.
Comfort working cross-functionally with operations and other departments to align financial processes with business needs.
Work Environment
This role operates in both a manufacturing environment and a traditional office setting, providing exposure to operational activities as well as corporate finance functions. The standard working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You can expect to work with financial systems, spreadsheets, and reporting tools, and to collaborate regularly with operations, vendors, banks, and external partners. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.05 - $45.67/hr.
