Job Title: Medical Assistant - Adult Neurology
Job Description
This role offers an opportunity for a skilled Medical Assistant to support an Adult Neurology department in a clinical setting. You will work closely with neurologists and other clinical staff to ensure efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, and a calm, professional experience for patients who may present with a wide range of neurological conditions. While physicians perform most hands-on procedures, you will play a key role in vitals, rooming, registration, scheduling, and administrative support.
Responsibilities
Greet, check in, and check out patients in a professional and courteous manner.
Room patients efficiently and prepare exam rooms for neurologists and other providers.
Measure and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and other required measurements.
Prepare patients for examinations, ensuring they understand the process and feel comfortable.
Perform basic lab tests as directed, following established clinical protocols and safety procedures.
Register new and returning patients and verify patient information in the electronic health record system.
Schedule patient appointments and manage appointment changes, ensuring accurate and timely patient scheduling.
Take calls from patients, respond to routine inquiries, and route calls or messages appropriately.
Monitor new and return patient contact, ensuring timely follow-up and communication.
Record and update patient medical histories and other clinical information in the EHR system with a high degree of accuracy.
Enter all relevant patient data, visit details, and clinical information into the EPIC electronic health record system.
Monitor supply inventory, ensuring adequate clinical and office supplies are available and requesting replenishment when needed.
Clean and stock exam rooms as necessary to maintain a safe, organized, and ready clinical environment.
Assist physicians and clinical staff as needed during patient visits while maintaining professional boundaries and scope of practice.
De-escalate interactions with patients and family members by remaining calm, empathetic, and professional, especially when dealing with individuals experiencing stress or complex neurological conditions.
Collaborate with the neurology care team to support efficient clinic operations and a positive patient experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Certified Medical Assistant credentials such as CCMA or RMA.
Hands-on experience with EPIC electronic health record software.
Experience in patient scheduling, appointment coordination, and managing patient flow in a busy clinic.
Experience in phlebotomy and related clinical procedures.
Experience working in neurology or other specialty clinics is beneficial.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to de-escalate challenging interactions with empathy and professionalism.

Work Environment
This position is based in a clinical Adult Neurology department, supporting care at two locations within a medical complex on the 6th and 7th floors. The environment is fast-paced and patient-focused, serving individuals with a wide variety of neurological conditions. You will work closely with physicians and other clinical staff in exam rooms and administrative areas, using EPIC as the primary electronic health record system and standard medical equipment for vitals and basic lab tests. The schedule is Monday through Friday, approximately 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., supporting a stable daytime workweek. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr.
