Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Clerk
Job Description
The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for ensuring that all orders are accurately pulled, packed, converted, shipped, loaded, and received in a timely manner and without visible damage or defects. This role supports efficient warehouse operations by handling materials safely, maintaining accurate records, and delivering excellent internal and external customer service.
Responsibilities
Unpack pallets by safely and efficiently removing materials and placing them in designated areas.
Sort materials by @type or category as they come off pallets to maintain organized inventory and streamlined workflow.
Label items accurately with the correct product and shipping information to support traceability and error-free order fulfillment.
Maintain workflow by completing tasks with a strong sense of urgency, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Follow instructions and work assignments provided by supervisors, ensuring tasks are completed as directed.
Perform general warehouse tasks, including cleaning and organizing work areas, to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
Transport goods and supplies into and around the warehouse to support on-time delivery of orders.
Operate various material handling equipment to store, move, and record goods and supplies according to established procedures.
Perform basic inventory control tasks, including checking quantities, quality, and availability of items against records.
Follow mandatory procedures and quality standards to ensure all work meets required specifications and compliance expectations.
Adhere to health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures to identify and mitigate risks to oneself and others.
Use warehouse operating systems to receive and process orders, print documentation, and locate inventory on the warehouse floor.
Participate in training, assessments, and development planning to maintain and improve warehouse and material handling skills.
Perform additional duties and tasks as assigned to support overall warehouse operations.
Essential Skills
Experience with material handling, including safely moving, lifting, and transporting goods within a warehouse environment.
Proficiency in order picking, including pulling, packing, and preparing orders accurately for shipment.
Ability to use warehouse operating systems to receive orders, print documentation, and locate inventory.
Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate labeling, sorting, and inventory control.
Capability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to established procedures and quality standards.
Basic inventory control skills, including checking quantities, quality, and availability against records.
Commitment to following health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
Ability to work with a sense of urgency while maintaining accuracy and quality.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience using various material handling equipment in a warehouse setting.
Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume distribution or warehouse environment.

Work Environment
This role is based in a warehouse environment that is regularly non-climate-controlled, with potential exposure to cold, heat, damp, or humid conditions. You may encounter loud noise, dust, mechanical hazards, moving objects, and moving vehicles while performing your duties. The position involves regular use of material handling equipment and warehouse operating systems to manage inventory and process orders. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kansas City, KS.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.18 - $21.18/hr.
