Senior Accountant
Job Description
The Senior Accountant prepares and analyzes financial information, supports accurate reporting, and provides clear financial insights to stakeholders across the organization. This role focuses on journal entries, account reconciliations, key performance indicators, and the development of financial models and reports to support informed decision-making.
Responsibilities
Prepare accurate and timely journal entries and supporting schedules to ensure complete and reliable financial records.
Review prepared schedules for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to established accounting standards and internal policies.
Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts regularly to ensure accounts are properly stated and discrepancies are resolved promptly.
Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and analyze financial and operational trends, comparing results against industry benchmarks.
Clearly and concisely communicate financial information, policies, and procedures to non-financial managers to support understanding and effective decision-making.
Develop, maintain, and distribute ad-hoc financial reports and analyses to support management and operational needs.
Build and maintain financial models to forecast performance, evaluate scenarios, and support strategic planning.
Utilize accounting systems and tools, including general ledger and reporting applications, to support accurate and efficient financial processes.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
Minimum of three (3) years of accounting experience in all areas, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Proficiency in general ledger accounting and journal entry preparation.
Experience reconciling balance sheet and income statement accounts.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and identify trends.
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365 products, specifically Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis, reporting, and modeling.
Experience working with computerized accounting systems.
Ability to clearly communicate financial information, policies, and procedures to non-financial managers, both verbally and in writing.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working with analytic tools such as Microsoft Power BI and Tableau.
Experience with QuickBooks or SAGE accounting software.
Experience with Salesforce or similar customer relationship management or financial systems is a plus.
Ability to develop and maintain financial models to support forecasting and decision-making.
Ability to develop KPIs and benchmark performance against industry standards.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in financial reporting.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities within deadlines.
Work Environment
This position follows a part-time schedule of approximately 30 hours per week, with core hours from Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

This is a Contract position based out of Sparks Glencoe, MD.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $48.00/hr.
