Job Summary: Our Grounds & Nursery I is responsible for maintaining campus grounds through general cleanup, landscaping, turf care, and irrigation system upkeep. Duties include mowing, trimming, fertilizing, weeding, and tree/shrub maintenance. The role also involves operating and maintaining grounds equipment, performing snow removal, and adhering to all safety procedures. Employees are expected to report safety concerns and support a clean, safe, and well-maintained campus environment.
Essential Job Functions: General Grounds Maintenance:
General cleanup of campus by means of: sweeping, raking, changing trash can liners, and picking up trash in all campus areas including parking lots, sidewalks, landscaping, patios, and roadways.
Landscape & Turf Maintenance:
Fertilizing, aerating, seeding, top dressing, mowing and trimming.
Trimming trees, shrubs, and flowers as needed.
Mulching, tree rings, flower beds, and shrub beds.
Weeding: spraying and/or pulling all weeds.
Irrigation & Sprinklers:
Repairs, installs, inspects, and monitors water flow.
Checks and adjust sprinklers as needed.
Communicate potential need for adjustment to the Supervisor for irrigation system to minimize wasting water.
Equipment Operations:
Operates, maintains, repairs, sets-up and clean grounds related equipment and vehicles.
Snow removal & Daily Safety:
Provide coverage as part of the Snow Removal Team.
Performs duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Adhere to all safety procedures associated with this position, as instructed by the supervisor or designated safety personnel.
Remain vigilant and report any safety concerns related to job duties or observed on campus.
Participate in safety training and follow all department organizational safety protocols.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
Minimum Qualifications:
One (1) year of professional responsible grounds care and maintenance work experience. (this must be specifically demonstrated on your application).
Must possess a valid unencumbered Colorado driver's license at the time of application.

Conditions of Employment:
Must maintain a valid and unencumbered Colorado driver license.

The person selected for this position must maintain their ability to stand for long periods of time as well as kneel, stoop, crouch, reach and grab in the performance of job-related duties.
Must be willing and able to physically maneuver and manipulate various hand tools (shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or axes) used in the performance of job-related duties
This person selected for this position must maintain their ability to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
Must be willing and able to perform work duties while exposed to extremes in weather elements (i.e. snow in the winter, heat in the summer).
Willingness to adhere to all safety guidance material.
Must pass a physical examination conducted by a licensed health care provider to determine the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
