This position is responsible for effective leadership and supervision of EMS personnel and for fostering a culture of accountability, respect, and high performance.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS**
Adheres to the Mission, Vision, and Values of Grand County Emergency Medical Services.
Treats all persons encountered in the line of duty with respect, dignity, and empathy.
Arrives at scheduled shifts fit for duty, prepared, well-rested, and in required uniform.
Ability to function as a Grand County EMS field-cleared Paramedic and respond to ambulance and other emergency calls and provide high-quality patient care as needed.
Provides direct supervision of EMS staff to ensure protocol and policies are followed.
Schedules staff members and maintains effective shift coverage at all times.
Reviews documentation submitted by EMS staff to ensure compliance with departmental and state standards.
Plans and conducts training and professional development for staff, including evaluation of skills and performance.
Provides and completes reports on operational assignments and statistical data as requested by the EMS Chief or Deputy Chief.
Participates as a liaison for the public and other agencies and maintains a professional demeanor at all times.
Attends meetings and participates in committees as assigned by the Chief or Deputy Chief.
Assists with the development of policies and procedures for the safe delivery of services provided by the EMS staff.
Verifies EMS staff time records and mileage reports for accuracy and submits them to the Administrative Assistant.
Assists with the orientation of new employees and the ongoing development and mentoring of employees.
Participates in and makes recommendations on the quality management programs and standards and the fiscal department budgeting and planning.
Oversees equipment repair or replacement.
Participates in a minimum of 15 hours of continuing education (or equivalent) each year.
Assumes role of Administrator On Call (AOC) in absences when assigned.
Works assigned shifts or days beyond normal workdays as required or assigned by the Chief or Deputy Chief.
Supervises various special operations teams, which include ensuring annual mandatory training is offered and that team members participate.
Coordinates with the emergency medical dispatcher on resource allocation and deployment.
Checks the assigned quick response unit for readiness.
Oversees the readiness and availability of all departmental resources, ensuring that all equipment is response-ready at all times.
Provides on-scene, clinical, and logistical control at the scene of emergencies or incidents.
Maintains station, vehicle, and equipment cleanliness at all times; completes needed and assigned station duties and/or chores without direct supervision.
Maintains scheduled and access-controlled medications in accordance with departmental policy, medical director's protocol, state regulation, and federal law as applicable.
Monitors departmental communications methods, including radio, e-mail, cellular phones, and computer-aided dispatch systems throughout the shift. Participates in ongoing communication with teammates and command staff regularly.
Effectively communicates with coworkers, supervisors, subordinates, medical facility staff, physicians, patients, family members, and bystanders.
Actively participates in and supports community education, public relations, and outreach programs in the community.
Attends all mandatory training and department meetings, including quarterly staff meetings.
Operates all Grand County EMS vehicles, equipment, and devices safely and responsibly at all times.
Adheres to strict patient confidentiality guidelines, rules, regulations, and laws.
Maintains a professional demeanor at all times.
