Job Title: 1st Shift CNC Mill Machinist
Job Description
This role offers an opportunity for an experienced CNC Mill Machinist to perform full machine setups in a small, close-knit job shop environment. You will work on Fanuc-controlled CNC mills, execute multiple setups and change-overs per day, and produce precision components to tight tolerances while interpreting complex blueprints and G/M code.
Responsibilities
Perform full setups on CNC mills, including configuring workholding, tooling, and programs for each job.
Set offsets, make necessary adjustments, and change out tooling to ensure efficient and accurate machining.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine machining operations and requirements.
Read and understand G and M code to verify and adjust machine programs as needed.
Operate Fanuc-controlled CNC mills to produce parts within tight tolerances, holding dimensions to approximately half-thousandth accuracy.
Use precision measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers to inspect parts and verify dimensional accuracy.
Perform multiple setups and change-overs per day in a job shop environment, adapting quickly to varying part numbers and requirements.
Occasionally operate multiple CNC mills simultaneously while maintaining quality and efficiency.
Utilize an overhead crane or hoist occasionally to safely move parts and materials.
Monitor machine performance, identify issues, and make adjustments to maintain consistent quality and throughput.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and follow established shop procedures.
Collaborate with team members and owners on the shop floor to resolve issues and continuously improve processes.
Essential Skills
3-5+ years of job shop machining experience, including frequent multiple setups and change-overs per day.
5+ years of CNC mill experience, with strong preference for experience on Fanuc-controlled machines.
Proven ability to perform full setups, change out tooling, and make adjustments independently, often 2-5 setups or change-overs per day.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions accurately.
Strong understanding of G and M code for CNC milling operations.
Demonstrated ability to hold tight tolerances to approximately half-thousandth (+/- 0.0005) consistently.
Proficiency using precision measurement tools such as micrometers and calipers.
Experience working in a job shop environment, handling varied work and frequent part change-overs.
Solid CNC machining fundamentals, including knowledge of feeds, speeds, tooling, and material behavior.
Professional attitude, reliability, and the ability to work effectively in a small, collaborative shop setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Ability to program CNC G-code directly from a print or model.
Experience programming with Mastercam or Fusion for CNC milling operations.
Ownership of personal precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers), demonstrating commitment to the trade.
Experience operating overhead cranes or hoists to move parts and materials safely.
Familiarity with both job shop and low-volume, high-mix production environments.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with a small, tight-knit team.
Attention to detail and a focus on quality, continuous improvement, and safe work practices.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
