Position summary: A career-minded Water/Wastewater engineer, looking towards advancement, is needed to join JMT's fast growing Water/Wastewater consultant engineering practice. Employee will lead engineering designs in the water/wastewater field through working knowledge of applicable design criteria, regulatory requirements, standards and processes; conduct multiple design projects simultaneously, prepare and update project schedules; develop, analyze and document critical design elements; coordinate the efforts of a design team to determine requirements and incorporate feedback. The selected candidate will become part of an established team of engineers working on exciting sewershed study and rehabilitation, new sewer design, water distribution, water/wastewater treatment, and pump station projects. Employee is expected to provide quality engineering evaluation and design services efficiently with limited supervision to support the project team's objective and provide customer satisfaction on all projects, delivering projects of high quality on schedule and within budget.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Lead the design for multiple concurrent projects and tasks for your discipline.

Attends client meetings or interviews in support of project manager.

Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate?detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.

Design projects using advanced discipline knowledge, client specifications and guidelines using design software and drawing tools.

Develop solutions to complex problems and share best practices/lessons learned on a wide scale (company, client, or industry)

Defining parameters, reviewing, and presenting alternative studies based on experience and advanced engineering knowledge.

Prepare or lead the preparation of engineering documents, technical reports, memos, etc.

Evaluate and collaborate on discipline's workflow and standard operating procedures to increase efficiency.

Perform and check design computations.

Quality review of project design in accordance with the Project Management Plan.

Provide cross disciplinary and constructability reviews on complex projects.

Providing input to project manager and section head with scope development, work hours for tasks, and project schedule creation for discipline.

Manage and lead work to meet provided project schedule and budget relevant to discipline.

Coordinate and collaborate?with team members and other disciplines?to ensure project completion by the defined deadline?and established quality.

Delegate project work to design engineers, coordinate project requirements, and perform quality reviews.

Mentor and coach on technical knowledge to advance their skill development and advise on project design.

Actively participating and contributing (presenting, publishing papers, etc.) in industry organizations, publications, and/or conversations.

Assist Project Manager with consultative services to the client by understanding client requirements, recommendations, and solutions to enhance client experience.

Nonessential functions and responsibilities:

Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills

Proficient in related design software including AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, ArcGIS, and MS Project

Proficient in Microsoft Office

Written and communication skills

Familiarity of a variety of engineering disciplines

Required Experience

A bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited university

10+ years' experience in water/wastewater design

Qualifications preferred:

Professional Engineer License

Experience working with local clients at the county and state level

Working Conditions:

Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
