Job Title: Class A CDL Driver
Job Description
This role involves operating Class A commercial vehicles locally for a grading-focused operation, primarily hauling rock and dirt using side dump and straight dump trucks. You will transport materials between job sites, safely navigate active work zones, and strictly comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. All routes are local, with no state-to-state travel required.
Responsibilities
Operate Class A CDL side dump and straight dump trucks to transport rock, dirt, and other materials between local job sites.
Safely navigate active construction and grading job sites, following all site-specific safety rules and traffic patterns.
Comply with all DOT laws and regulations, including hours-of-service, load securement, and vehicle operation standards.
Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer to ensure safe operating condition.
Monitor loads to ensure proper distribution and safe dumping of materials at designated locations.
Communicate effectively with dispatch, site supervisors, and other drivers to coordinate routes and delivery schedules.
Maintain accurate logs and required documentation in accordance with DOT and company policies.
Report any vehicle defects, incidents, or unsafe conditions promptly to the appropriate personnel.
Operate vehicles in a professional manner that protects company equipment, other motorists, and job site personnel.
Adhere to all safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment as required on job sites.
Essential Skills
Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
Proven experience driving Class A CDL vehicles, including side dump and dump trucks.
Ability to safely operate and maneuver side dump and straight dump trucks in tight or uneven job site conditions.
Strong understanding of and adherence to DOT regulations and safety requirements.
Capability to pass a DOT physical examination.
Ability to pass a drug test in accordance with DOT and company standards.
Solid driving record with a focus on safe, defensive driving practices.
Ability to perform basic vehicle inspections and identify potential mechanical issues.
Comfort working in a fully driving-focused role with minimal non-driving duties.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience hauling rock, dirt, or similar materials in a construction or grading environment.
Experience operating side dump trailers and dump trucks in local, short-haul applications.
Familiarity with navigating active construction job sites and communicating with site personnel.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and route plans accurately.
Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain consistent attendance for a full-time schedule.

Work Environment

The role follows a full-time schedule with 40 hours guaranteed, offering consistent weekly work. You will use commercial trucking equipment and adhere to DOT standards at all times, working closely with dispatch and site personnel in a professional, safety-focused environment.
