Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Finance Business Analyst to support critical financial reporting, close, and control-focused initiatives within a large-scale insurance environment. This role is deeply embedded within Finance and is not a general IT Business Analyst position. The ideal candidate will bring strong domain expertise in insurance finance and act as a key connector between Finance stakeholders and technology teams to ensure accurate, auditable, and scalable financial processes.
This individual will play a pivotal role in stabilizing and enhancing existing General Ledger and financial reporting systems while enabling long-term transformation initiatives tied to data modernization, ERP integrations, and reporting improvements. The work will directly impact financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency across financial close, reconciliation, and reporting functions.
You will partner with Finance leaders (Controllers, Accounting, Financial Reporting, Audit) to translate complex accounting requirements into actionable technical deliverables, ensuring solutions meet strict financial controls and audit standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Elicit, document, and validate business and system requirements related to:
Financial close and reconciliation processes
Statutory (STAT) and GAAP reporting
Intercompany, reinsurance, and allocation workflows
Financial controls, audit support, and data lineage
Translate Finance requirements into:
Detailed user stories with clear acceptance criteria
Functional specifications for reports, data flows, and system interfaces
Test scenarios to support UAT and validation of financial controls
Partner with Finance stakeholders to:
Assess upstream and downstream system impacts
Identify data gaps, inconsistencies, and control risks
Support issue resolution tied to financial reporting outcomes
Collaborate with development, QA, and data teams to:
Deliver high-quality solutions aligned with financial accuracy and compliance standards
Ensure auditability and completeness of financial data processes
Project Initiatives & Impact:
Stabilization and optimization of existing financial and General Ledger systems
Enhancing financial reporting accuracy and reconciliation processes
Supporting audit and regulatory-driven initiatives
Enabling future finance transformation and reporting modernization efforts
Improving data integrity and transparency across financial systems and reporting layers
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst supporting Finance or Accounting teams
Direct experience working within an insurance carrier environment (P&C, Life, Health, or Specialty)
Strong experience with insurance financial reporting, including:
STAT and/or GAAP reporting
Financial close and reconciliation processes
Intercompany or reinsurance accounting
Proven ability to work directly with:
Controllers
Financial Reporting teams
Accounting Policy and Audit teams
Demonstrated experience translating accounting requirements into IT and system-driven solutions
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting regulatory or audit-driven initiatives
Background in finance transformation or reporting modernization efforts
Experience working in highly controlled environments where financial accuracy is critical
Exposure to custom financial reporting platforms or GL systems
Work Environment:
100% Remote - final interview is onsite in Omaha, NE. MUST BE available to complete this to be considered for hire.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.
