The Construction Superintendent manages on-site operations from the project trailer, coordinates subcontractors, enforces safety and quality procedures, and provides clear, consistent communication and reporting to the broader project team. Responsibilities
Manage all on-site construction activities for solar projects, ensuring work progresses safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project schedules.
Coordinate daily operations from the site trailer, including planning tasks, sequencing work, and overseeing multiple subcontractor crews in civil, electrical, and mechanical disciplines.
Oversee and manage subcontractors and sub-vendors on site, working closely with their forepersons to ensure work is completed according to scope, quality standards, and timelines.
Conduct and oversee quality control activities, including performing quality inspections and verifying that all work complies with construction drawings, specifications, and company standards.
Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations, including OSHA requirements and company safety policies, and actively promote a strong safety culture on site.
Review, interpret, and verify construction drawings and plans (civil, electrical, and mechanical) to ensure all work is executed according to design and technical specifications.
Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for the project team, providing regular updates on progress, issues, and risks, and escalating concerns as needed.
Prepare and submit daily reports to the construction manager or project manager, documenting progress, safety observations, manpower, equipment, and any notable events or delays.
Coordinate work activities among various trades and subcontractors to avoid conflicts, minimize downtime, and maintain efficient workflow on the job site.
Manage on-site inventory, deliveries, and material handling, ensuring materials are received, documented, stored properly, and available when needed for construction activities.
Capture photographs of construction progress and site conditions, and submit them as part of daily or periodic reporting to the project management team.
Perform and support inspections as required, including internal quality checks and coordination with external inspectors, engineers, or authorities.
Document and track information received from other contractors, engineers, and stakeholders, ensuring accurate and timely communication of this information to the appropriate team members.
Use Procore and other project management tools to track documentation, RFIs, drawings, and reports, ensuring records are accurate and up to date.
Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to create and maintain reports, logs, presentations, and other project-related documentation.
Operate and manage work using Apple iPads or similar devices for field documentation, drawings, and communication.
Support and enforce site-specific stormwater and environmental compliance requirements as they relate to construction activities.
Demonstrate strong leadership on site by setting expectations, resolving conflicts, making timely decisions, and motivating crews to achieve project goals.
Identify and address field issues promptly, using problem-solving skills to keep the project moving forward while maintaining safety and quality.
Be consistently present on site during construction hours, often serving as the first person to arrive and the last person to leave, to ensure thorough oversight of all activities.
Essential Skills
Proven experience in construction, with strong background in civil, electrical, and mechanical aspects of solar construction.
Demonstrated ability to manage and oversee construction crews and subcontractors in a field environment.
Strong experience working on solar construction projects, including rooftop or ground-mounted systems.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings across civil, electrical, and mechanical disciplines.
Proficiency with Procore construction management software.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Familiarity with Apple iPads for field documentation and communication.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct and motivate on-site teams.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with project teams, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced construction environment.
Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and ability to enforce safety policies on site.
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, including coordination of work, inspections, and reporting.
Ability to travel as required to various solar sites within the state.
Willingness and physical ability to work full-time on an active construction site.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
SWPPP certification, OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, and First Aid/CPR/AED certifications are required; training can be provided at no cost prior to start if not already held.
Experience in rooftop solar installation or supervision.

Work Environment
The work environment is a field-based construction setting centered around an on-site company trailer at active solar project locations. On any given day, multiple electrical, civil, and mechanical subcontractors will be working on site, creating a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires constant coordination and communication. Projects range in size from approximately 660 kW to 6 MW and provide a steady pipeline of work over several years. Standard working hours are primarily Monday through Friday, with a minimum of 40 hours per week, typically following standard construction hours of approximately 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Some projects may require longer days or extended hours, including 10-hour shifts, based on project needs. The role is site-based and may involve travel between different solar sites within the state. Dress code consists of typical construction attire-such as jeans and a T-shirt-paired with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by site safety policies. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
