The Medical Assistant supports providers in delivering high-quality patient care by performing both clinical and administrative duties. This role plays a key part in ensuring a smooth patient flow, maintaining accurate records, and creating a positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
Room patients and prepare them for examinations; notify provider when ready
Obtain and document vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure, temperature, etc.) and chief complaints
Verify and update patient information including medications, allergies, and contact details
Ensure patient charts are complete with lab results and diagnostic information prior to appointments
Assist with prescription refill requests per provider direction
Maintain clean, stocked, and organized exam rooms
Update and manage electronic medical records (EMR/EHR)
Support follow-up on labs, diagnostics, and patient communications
Monitor and order clinical and office supplies as needed
Provide clear instructions to patients and ensure understanding of care plans
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting
Experience with EMR systems (Epic and Athena)
Strong knowledge of medical terminology and patient care procedures
Preferred Qualifications
CMA, RMA, or equivalent Medical Assistant certification
Additional certifications (EMT, LPN, RN) a plus
CPR/First Aid certification preferred
Experience with phlebotomy and/or injections

Work Environment
This role is based in a primary care clinic located in Woodstock within a larger medical center setting. The Medical Assistant supports two providers at a time, within a team of up to four Medical Assistants, in a clinic that emphasizes a positive, calm, and pleasant work environment. The culture focuses on intentional kindness, respect, empathy, and leading by example in daily interactions. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with the clinic closed from noon to 1:00 p.m., providing a 30-minute uninterrupted lunch. The Medical Assistant works four days per week directly with an assigned provider in a typical back-office clinical workflow and spends one day per week on administrative tasks such as managing patient portal requests in Athena EMR, handling refill requests, notifying patients of lab results, and preparing charts for the following week. The clinic uses EMR systems and Microsoft Office and partners with an on-site phlebotomist for blood draws. The physical environment requires prolonged standing and frequent walking, sitting, and movement, including stooping and kneeling. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
