THE POSITION
Step into a Laborer role with the Department of Human Services and help keep the Danville State Hospital campus safe and welcoming! This role offers steady, meaningful work that supports the well-being of the hospital community. This is a hands-on job where you stay active and see real results from your effort. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position plays an important role in keeping the buildings and grounds of the hospital in good condition. The work supports daily operations through regular maintenance, basic repairs, and assistance to skilled trades workers. As a Laborer, you will perform the following duties:
General Cleaning:Maintain indoor and outdoor areas by cleaning facilities, pavilions, and recreational spaces
Grounds Care:Carry out landscaping tasks such as mowing, seeding, planting, pruning, and clearing debris or snow
Basic Repairs:Perform minor carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and painting work as directed
Tool Operation:Use hand and power tools to support building and equipment maintenance activities
HVAC Assistance:Support the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC and refrigeration equipment
Transport Tasks:Drive vehicles to move personnel, tools, and materials as needed

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This may change based on operational needs.
Overtime as needed

Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Additional Requirements:
This position requires a drivers license.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
