Cleanroom Manufacturing Technician
Job Description
This role involves operating semiconductor-processing equipment in a cleanroom environment to support wafer and optical component fabrication. You will set up and run complex manual and computer-controlled tools, follow defined processes in photolithography, etch, cleaning, and metrology, and help ensure that daily production and quality targets are consistently met. The position requires strong attention to detail, comfort working with microscopes and electronics assemblies, and the ability to learn and operate complex machinery in a fast-paced, collaborative manufacturing setting.
Responsibilities
Operate manually and computer-controlled semiconductor-processing equipment to meet daily production and quality goals.
Set up, adjust, and run complex manual and automated tools used in photolithography, pattern exposure, wet and dry etching, substrate cleaning, metrology, and related semiconductor processes.
Work collaboratively with other team members to process wafers and optical components according to established procedures and production schedules.
Use computer software, including Microsoft Excel and Word, to track operational performance, record process data, and make minor adjustments to improve productivity.
Inspect work using microscopes and other metrology tools to verify quality, identify defects, and ensure adherence to specifications.
Follow all quality management procedures, promptly identify quality issues, and escalate or document them as required.
Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area in compliance with cleanroom protocols and safety guidelines.
Handle and process electronic assemblies, circuit boards, and semiconductor components with care and precision, including basic test and repair tasks where required.
Use basic electronics, soldering, and computer skills to support assembly and processing activities as needed.
Wear required cleanroom garments and personal protective equipment while handling chemicals such as acids, bases, and solvents in accordance with safety procedures.
Multitask effectively and perform additional duties as assigned by a supervisor to support overall cleanroom operations.
Work productively in a fast-paced, shift-based environment, including extended periods of standing or sitting (3-5 hours at a time).
Essential Skills
High school diploma or GED.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Computer literacy and willingness to learn new software and systems.
Microscope experience and the ability to perform detailed visual inspection work.
Manual dexterity and fine motor skills suitable for electronics assembly and semiconductor handling.
Ability to learn and operate complex manual and computer-controlled machinery.
Capability to perform light lifting and carrying duties as required by production tasks.
Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of 3-5 hours.
Comfort working in a fast-paced, collaborative manufacturing environment.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in following procedures and documenting work.
Problem-solving skills related to equipment and manufacturing issues.
Self-directed work style with the ability to operate effectively with limited supervision.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous manufacturing experience in a cleanroom environment.
Experience working with electronics assembly, circuit boards, and computer chips.
Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing processes, including wafer fabrication and semiconductor components.
Experience using microscopes and metrology tools in a production environment.
Exposure to wet chemistry processes, including handling acids, bases, and solvents with appropriate PPE.
Background or familiarity with electronics testing, repair, and soldering.
Experience working in a water or wafer fabrication (fab) or nano-scale manufacturing environment.
Comfort working with technology, including test equipment and computer-based production systems.
Strong teamwork, communication, and collaboration skills.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Breinigsville, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.50 - $30.00/hr.
