Job Title: Project Engineer / Project Coordinator - Data Center Construction
Job Description
This role supports a large data center project in Frederick, MD as a Project Engineer / Project Coordinator. You will assist with project coordination and controls, manage documentation, and support the construction team in delivering multiple small projects across separate sites while planning for future work. You will play a key role in document control, field coordination, and communication between the owner, general contractor, and consultants to help ensure projects meet scope, schedule, and cost objectives.
Responsibilities
Assist with project coordination and controls for multiple small construction projects at a data center campus, including planning for future projects.
Review construction documents and work orders in detail to understand scope, schedule, and requirements.
Take a primary role in overall project document control and maintenance using Procore and other systems designated by the owner.
Attend project-related meetings both onsite and virtually, and capture key decisions, action items, and follow-ups.
Track and review project correspondence, including Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, notices, commissioning reports, and other administrative deliverables.
Review project closeout requirements and coordinate the collection and delivery of closeout documentation from the general contractor and other vendors.
Support the construction team in delivering project scope in accordance with project specifications while seeking opportunities to improve schedule performance and maximize cost savings.
Represent the owner's interests on the project by informing and advising them of onsite events, issues, and contractual matters in a timely and professional manner.
Maintain accurate documents and records needed to administer the contract and provide a clear, supported timeline of project events.
Coordinate closely with consulting design services (architectural and engineering teams) to align design intent with field conditions and construction activities.
Collaborate with third-party inspection services performing special inspections and testing, and support their limited review work for general compliance with project specifications.
Work with quantity surveying (QS) services to support validation of work in place, review invoices and change orders for accuracy, and assist with cost management and analysis.
Use Procore as the primary platform for exchanging project-related information, documents, and reports, ensuring data is current and properly organized.
Support project management activities related to mechanical and electrical systems typical of data center environments, including coordination with trade contractors and vendors.
Essential Skills
Experience working with RFIs, change orders, and processing submittals in a construction environment.
Construction or engineering experience with exposure to commercial, institutional, or public sector projects.
Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management, or equivalent experience.
Four (4) years of postgraduate construction experience with demonstrated experience in electrical and/or mechanical trades, or ten (10) years of documented relevant experience in lieu of the degree.
Proficiency with Procore or similar construction management software for document control and project communication.
Experience with project management activities in mechanical and electrical construction, preferably in complex facilities such as data centers.
Strong construction management and project coordination skills, including organizing documentation, tracking deliverables, and supporting field activities.
Ability to read and interpret construction documents, specifications, and work orders.
Effective communication skills for interacting with owners, general contractors, consultants, and field personnel.
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management.
Experience supporting or coordinating work on data center projects or other mission-critical facilities.
Familiarity with mechanical and electrical systems in building construction environments.
Experience collaborating with architectural and engineering (AE) consultants, third-party inspectors, and quantity surveyors.
Ability to support cost management efforts, including reviewing invoices, validating work in place, and assisting with change order evaluation.
Capability to identify opportunities for schedule improvement and cost savings while maintaining compliance with project specifications.
Comfort working in a highly technical, documentation-driven environment with multiple stakeholders and concurrent projects.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $125000.00/hr.
