Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Manager Centralized Clinical Operations Center, you will be providing clinical leadership and daily operational oversight of both nursing practice and non licensed team members within the newly formed Centralized Clinical Operations Center. This position ensures evidence-based nursing standards of clinical practice are in place in a regulatory compliant environment with a focus on ensuring the highest levels of safety, quality and customer and patient satisfaction.
Every day you will provide strong communication/change management skills and the ability to work effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and work groups across the Region. You will be expected to ensure compliance with standards of patient care/practice, safety/risk management guidelines and applicable regulatory requirements is essential to this position. Work requires an operational knowledge of the concepts, standards and practices of inpatient care inclusive of critical care, patient access and remote monitoring services.
This position routinely interfaces with site-based nursing and clinical leadership which necessitates the incumbent is skilled in conflict resolution, change management and consensus building skills.
To be successful in this role you must:
1) administering department budget with fiscal responsibility, 2) managing, developing and evaluating team member performance, 3) implementing and monitoring clinical quality initiatives, 4) enhance/streamline current workflows and 5) performing ongoing performance improvement activities across all teams within the Centralized Clinical Operations Center.
Essential Functions
Operations Accountability:
Manages and evaluates the daily operations, programs and resources of the assigned function/work unit to assure the safe and appropriate delivery of patient care, achievement of clinical core measurement scores and to ensure that all activities are conducted in a timely and cost-effective manner and in accordance with professional standards, budget constraints, internal policies/standards/procedures and/or applicable regulatory requirements; implements and enforces quality control/quality assurance and productivity standards; ensures that applicable standards, systems and procedures are understood and followed; monitors and audits related documentation to ensure conformance with established standards relating to timeliness, and accuracy; prepares periodic productivity reports and program updates for review of higher-level authority.
Recommends, implements and evaluates new/revised procedures, guidelines, training materials and/or general communications in support of assigned clinical area/facility to ensure consistency with the philosophy/values of the organization and compliance with applicable regulatory/accreditation requirements; reviews training materials prior to assimilation into training curricula; ensures that all clinical and related support activities are fully documented in accordance with the standards and practices of the organization; ensures that employees understand and apply internal guidelines appropriately, and monitors compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Researches inquiries, complaints and requests by internal/external customers and takes appropriate steps to resolve errors or issues; communicates resolution to all interested parties.
Participates in the development of, and implements, new/revised guidelines, procedures, processes and/or training materials in support of assigned function/work unit to facilitate regulatory compliance; ensures that employees understand and apply internal guidelines appropriately.
Staff Management and Development:
Plans, manages and evaluates the work of assigned clinical/administrative staff in accordance with the content, spirit and intent of applicable internal/external regulations and standards for human resource management; identifies adequate staffing levels for appropriate coverage to meet budgetary and operational objectives; ensures that staff are qualified and properly trained to perform assigned job duties; interviews job candidates and makes employment and other personnel decisions in accordance with established guidelines; orients employees and holds regular staff meetings to keep employees appraised of all matters relevant to successful job performance; approves timecards; establishes performance standards and evaluates employee performance; counsels employees, providing constructive feedback and recognizing results achieved; participates in performance management activities and resolves technical issues referred by subordinates as beyond their scope of authority.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensures that all aspects of administrative/clinical operations are conducted and documented in compliance with relevant internal policies, standards and procedures and applicable regulatory requirements; assesses, on a continuous basis, services, patient outcomes, quality control, family/patient satisfaction, staffing needs and operational effectiveness to ensure optimal care delivery; ensures that internal controls are sufficient to provide for accurate, complete and compliant programs and processes; identifies need for changes in standards, programs and services, and develops recommendations for consideration by the Director.
Keeps abreast of changing regulatory requirements/regulation, clinical/professional standards, changing customer demographics and competitive industry practices impacting assigned functions, as well as organizational initiatives/changes with potential to impact current strategies, programs and resources; determines nature/scope of impact on existing activities and determines effective response/solution while maintaining acceptable service levels and work quality.
Short- and Long-Term Planning:
Anticipates and recognizes the evolving factors that affect current/future clinical operations center needs and oversees the development of strategies/initiatives to respond to future priorities and installations; ensures the full optimization of available information technology to achievement of overall business objectives; develops formal strategic/tactical plans to include both short- and long-term business planning with full accountability for achievement of plan objectives; presents and gains support for recommendations and oversees project management efforts to develop/implement planning objectives.
Budget Administration:
Identifies resources needed to accomplish the performance objectives of the functional area and oversees activities and resources in a manner that is fiscally-responsible and in accordance with VMFH policies and standards; prepares annual operating budget, exercising effective cost control by monitoring and adjusting expenses as needed to stay within budget; approves expenditures within defined scope of responsibility; identifies negative variances and develops action plans to document, address and effectively resolve in a timely manner; keeps Director apprised of all issues with potential for budgetary impact.
Performance/Quality Improvement:
Works with management team to ensure the application of consistent practices relating to internal operations, patient care, quality of human resources activities and VMFH standards; assesses the strengths/weaknesses of the assigned clinical area/facility to identify opportunities and provide recommendations to Director for new quality/performance improvement initiatives; implements new processes and ensures that performance improvement activities are conducted in a timely and effective manner; ensures that staff receive the necessary on-site training and consultation to enhance their understanding of quality/performance improvement initiatives.
Job Requirements
Education/Experience:
Bachelors Degree in a discipline related to the duties of the position, graduation from an accredited school of nursing upon hire and
six years of progressively responsible related work experience required and Two years in a supervisory or management capacity required
Six years of progressively responsible related work experience in a hospital environment that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
Registered Nurse: WA (RN:WA) required upon hire

Pay Range
$57.37 - $85.33 /hour
