Job Description
The Plant Accountant manages and supports all plant financial activities, including financial reporting, cash management, and annual operating plan (AOP) processes. This role provides accurate financial and statistical data to plant and corporate leadership to enable timely, informed decision-making and partners closely with various corporate functions. The position reports to the Operations Finance Director and plays a key role in maintaining financial integrity, driving process improvements, and supporting overall plant performance.
Responsibilities
Manage and support all plant accounting activities related to financial reporting, cash management, and AOP processes.
Prepare, analyze, and maintain general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses.
Prepare and review financial statements and reports, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, ensuring timely and accurate processing and recording.
Assist with forecasting, budgeting, and balance sheet management to support plant and corporate financial objectives.
Provide accurate plant financial and statistical data to leadership to support timely, informed business decisions.
Identify and implement process improvements in accounting and reporting to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Collaborate effectively within a multi-functional, global organizational structure and partner with various corporate functions.
Use Sage and Microsoft Office applications to prepare reports, analyses, presentations, and communications.
Apply critical thinking and analytical skills to assess financial situations, identify risks and opportunities, and recommend actions.
Demonstrate strong organizational skills and attention to detail while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Take ownership of projects and deliverables, displaying a bias for action and seeing tasks through to completion.

Essential Skills
Proficiency in accounting principles and practices, including general ledger management, reconciliations, and journal entries.
Experience with month-end close processes and preparation of financial statements and reports.
General knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Demonstrated ability to comprehend and execute basic accounting functions and identify process improvements.
Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
Experience with forecasting and balance sheet support.
Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs and priorities.
Proficiency with Sage and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within a multi-functional, global organizational structure.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
At least 3 years of related accounting or finance experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
CPA or CMA experience preferred.
Experience in a manufacturing or chemical industry environment preferred.

Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing facility and follows a Monday through Friday schedule, typically from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The environment is fast-paced and collaborative, involving regular interaction with plant operations and corporate functions. Standard office technology and software, including Sage and Microsoft Office applications, are used daily to perform accounting, reporting, and analysis tasks. The position operates within a structured yet dynamic setting where priorities can shift based on business needs, and professionalism in appearance and conduct is expected.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $31.00 - $41.00/hr.
