Summary Serves as a Budget and Financial Technician in the Research Service Budget Office, in Los Angeles, California. Providing technical support for budget, accounting, and financial management activities. Reconciles financial accounts and verifies charges, expenditures, and account balances. Maintains budget, accounting, and financial records to ensure accuracy and completeness. Monitors expenditures, obligations, and fund availability and assists with budget tracking activities. Reviews, certifies, and processes invoices for payment in accordance with established procedures. Compiles, analyzes, and prepares financial reports, spreadsheets, and budget-related data. Assists with payroll projections and maintains financial data used for staffing and budget planning. Coordinates and tracks grants, reimbursable accounts, and interagency agreements to ensure proper financial management. Provides financial and budget-related assistance to management, staff, vendors, and customers by responding to inquiries and resolving issues. Utilizes financial management software and office automation tools to enter, maintain, retrieve, and report financial information. Performs all other duties as assigned. Qualifications To qualify for this position at the GS-6 level, you must meet the following: Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-5) in the Federal Service that has given you the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform successfully the duties of a Budget and Financial Technician, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: processing financial, budget, payroll, or accounting transactions using automated systems and established procedures; compiling and maintaining budget and financial data used to track expenditures, obligations, and account balances; responding to inquiries from customers, vendors, and staff regarding financial transactions, purchasing actions, and account status; reconciling accounts and resolving discrepancies; and tracking expenditures, obligations, and account balances.
