Overview

The Education Programs Division of the Agency of Education (AOE) is seeking an organized and mission-driven individual to fill the role of Afterschool and Summer Center Coordinator. This position will report to the Expanded Learning Opportunities (ELO) Program Manager and work in coordination and collaboration with staff overseeing other federal and state afterschool and summer and flexible pathway grant programs currently administered by the AOE. \ The Coordinator will be the program specialist for the federal 21C program for the State of Vermont within the larger ELO team. As a member of the ELO team, this position will share in the development of high-quality oversight tools, professional development opportunities, and data collections processes to support all AOE-managed afterschool and summer programs in the state. All members of this team share a role in overall quality assurance, technical assistance, and continuous improvement planning. This Coordinator will be the primary point of contact and strategic support partner for the nearly 100 21C-funded afterschool and summer program delivery sites throughout the state, serving more than 10,000 youth. This position will be responsible for administering annual grant competitions and supporting local 21C Program Directors with data collections, evaluation, and reporting to maintain grant compliance.

Maintaining cooperative relationships with diverse stakeholders, ensuring coherence with existing state and federal afterschool and summer programs, effective project management, and significant knowledge of out of school time program design will be essential components of this role.

\ The Coordinator will play a critical role in assisting the state\'s response to addressing equity of access to quality enriched and expanded learning opportunities (ELOs) for young people, supporting programs throughout the state in developing evidence-based afterschool and summer learning opportunities. This position will be instrumental in the AOE meeting its goal to build out the \"third space\" in Vermont so that every child and youth can access connected learning opportunities that enrich their lives and lead to new opportunities.

This position provides significant opportunities to learn state and federal policies and to develop state-level leadership skills with mentoring support.

has considerable knowledge of and/or experience in out-of-school

time (OST) learning and flexible pathways;

is a skilled systems thinker with relevant experience working with

and within large, complex programs with multi-year budgets and deliverables;

is able to work with technologies and digital tools that support

program management and remote work;

is an effective communicator via different media and with different

stakeholders;

is able to read, understand, and adhere to State of Vermont policies

and procedures related to contracting and grant making, and;

is able to read, understand, and adhere to federal policies and

procedures relating to compliance and reporting, and;

is competent in core areas related to grant and program management.

As of July 12, 2026, the step 1 rate for pay grade 25 will be \$31.54 per hour and the step 15 rate will be \$49.45 per hour.

Environmental Factors

Work is generally performed in a standard office setting, but significant travel may be anticipated for which private means of transportation mustbe available. Some work outside of normal work schedule may be required. There may be considerable interaction with a variety of publics and strong differences of opinion may be encountered.
