The Prime Video (PV) Global Brand Insights team is hiring a Data Engineer that will be responsible for building data pipelines and generating insights to help the business better understand and deliver value to our customers. The Data Engineer, Global PV Brand Insights will work across a dynamic team of insights professionals focused on understanding and building customers' relationship with the Prime Video brand and service.
The ideal candidate is a strategic-minded engineer with a proven track record of delivering highly impactful, data-driven business recommendations in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate thrives working with large volumes of data, enjoys the challenge of highly complex technical @contexts, and is passionate about data and analytics.
The ideal candidate is an expert within data modeling, ETL design and cloud/big-data technologies and passionately partners with the business to identify strategic opportunities where improvements in data infrastructure creates large-scale business impact.
Key job responsibilities
Build & Optimize data models & pipelines for complex global datasets
Own ongoing data quality & self-service access to datasets for business intelligence, AI-based tools, and Model Context Protocols (MCP)
Improve metadata for better AI results
Collaborate with research program leads, data scientists, business intelligence engineers, and other data engineers to maintain stable, performant data solutions
Write secure, stable, testable, and maintainable code with minimal defects
Apply appropriate data design approaches and make judicious trade-offs without over-engineering
Optimize resource usage, including system hardware, data storage, query optimization, and AWS infrastructure
Participate actively in code reviews, design discussions, and roadmap planning
Resolve root causes of complex problems while balancing stakeholder requirements with team needs
Stay current on the latest innovations in the field, including ways that AI can be better used by our stakeholders to analyze and visualize our data
Develop & maintain automated reporting and dashboards to provide visibility into brand, marketing, and social performance and allow stakeholders to self-serve insights
About the team
The PV Global Brand & Marketing Insights team drives global marketing decision-making by being the voice of the customer for the Global Marketing organization. Our work is global in scope, incorporating multiple countries with the goal of understanding universal customer truths, while also specifying local nuance per country by partnering with in-country insights leads. We work with teams responsible for planning and executing strategies to drive the future of the PV brand.
Basic Qualifications
2+ years of data engineering experience
Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
Experience with one or more query language (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL, DDL, MDX, HiveQL, SparkSQL, Scala)
Experience with one or more scripting language (e.g., Python, KornShell)
Knowledge of basics of designing and implementing a data schema like normalization, relational model vs dimensional model
Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence
Experience using BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Adobe) to visualize data
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
Experience with any ETL tool like, Informatica, ODI, SSIS, BODI, Datastage, etc.
Experience with AWS services including S3, Redshift, Sagemaker, EMR, Kinesis, Lambda, and EC2
Experience with big data technologies such as AWS, Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive etc.
Experience with test-driven development
Experience architecting/operating solutions built on AWS
Experience in component selection and understanding of component reliability

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
