This role focuses on wiring, integrating, and commissioning custom automation equipment and robotic cells used in the assembly of electronic devices. The Electrical Build & Installation Technician builds and installs electrical systems, ensures the proper functionality of control panels, field devices, and power distribution systems, and supports startup and troubleshooting activities both in-house and at customer sites. The position offers exposure to advanced manufacturing technology, international training, and the opportunity to lead implementation efforts in the United States.
Responsibilities
Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts to guide build and installation activities.
Wire and assemble control panels, including routing, terminating, and labeling conductors and components.
Install and integrate electrical components such as motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), transformers, sensors, and actuators into automated systems.
Support electrical installation and commissioning of automated equipment and robotic cells used in electronic device assembly.
Assist with system startup, debug, and validation in collaboration with controls and mechanical engineering teams.
Troubleshoot electrical issues on production equipment and automation systems to restore functionality and improve reliability.
Perform preventive maintenance and support breakdown repairs on machinery and automation equipment.
Work with AC and DC systems, power distribution networks, and Motor Control Centers (MCCs) to ensure safe and reliable operation.
Support field installation, startup, and commissioning activities at customer sites, including international and domestic locations.
Maintain accurate documentation, including maintenance logs, technical reports, and as-built records of electrical systems.
Follow industrial electrical safety standards and best practices to maintain a safe working environment.
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated, high-quality automation solutions.
Essential Skills
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
Hands-on experience with panel wiring and electrical assembly in an industrial or automation environment.
Troubleshooting skills for electrical systems, including control panels, field devices, and production equipment.
Proficiency with electrical drawings and blueprints to support build, installation, and commissioning activities.
Experience with installation, startup, and commissioning of electrical systems and automated equipment.
Basic knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and industrial automation systems.
Experience integrating sensors, actuators, and other field devices into automated systems.
Familiarity with variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor control, and Motor Control Centers (MCCs).
Ability to work with AC/DC systems and power distribution in an industrial setting.
Strong attention to detail in wiring, labeling, documentation, and adherence to safety standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience supporting robotic cells and custom automation equipment used in electronic device assembly.
Background in electrical or electronics technology, instrumentation, or a related technical discipline.
Exposure to PLC troubleshooting and basic programming concepts in an industrial environment.
Experience working in a multidisciplinary team with controls, mechanical, and manufacturing personnel.
Willingness and ability to travel internationally and domestically for training, installation, and commissioning assignments.
Interest in leading future build and installation activities after initial training, including mentoring and guiding other technicians.
Comfort working extended hours, including overtime, during intensive project phases.
Work Environment
The role begins with an intensive four-week training assignment in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, India, in an engineering and manufacturing environment focused on advanced automation technology. During this period, the technician works six days per week for 10-hour shifts, resulting in significant overtime opportunities and eligibility for per diem while on assignment. After the initial four weeks, the position transitions to a facility in Houston, Texas, for approximately 20 weeks, where the team builds and installs automation equipment for high-volume electronic product manufacturing. The work environment in both locations is a production and engineering setting with exposure to automated machinery, control panels, and robotic cells. The schedule in Houston follows project needs and may include extended hours to meet milestones. The role involves hands-on work around industrial equipment, adherence to electrical and industrial safety practices, and collaboration with technical teams in a structured, technology-driven environment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr.
