Job Title: Manufacturing Technician
Job Description
The Manufacturing Technician supports day-to-day production operations in a growing chemical manufacturing environment. This role follows detailed manufacturing procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to batch, mix, blend, and package products such as metalworking fluids, lubricants, and coolants. The technician operates and monitors production equipment, performs in-process testing, maintains accurate documentation, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure products meet quality, safety, and customer specifications.
Responsibilities
Adhere to detailed manufacturing processes and testing requirements for all products, following established workflows and standard operating procedures.
Monitor and operate production equipment safely and efficiently to support consistent and reliable manufacturing output.
Obtain necessary raw materials for production, measure, weigh, and load them into machines according to specified formulas.
Batch, mix, and blend products per customer specifications and product formulas, ensuring accurate proportions and proper processing conditions.
Monitor mixtures for consistency and viscosity, making adjustments as needed to maintain product quality.
Produce sample quantities of products that meet defined physical and sensory specifications.
Assist in all aspects of manufacturing development batches, including setup, processing, and documentation.
Follow manufacturing procedures to process raw materials, intermediates, and finished products, including bulk product handling.
Maneuver drums and equipment in excess of 50 lbs. and lift up to 50 lbs. as required for material handling and production tasks.
Participate in inventory management activities, including tracking, counting, and organizing raw materials and finished goods.
Handle materials for preparing finished product shipments and receiving incoming materials, ensuring proper identification and storage.
Ensure that excess raw materials are stored properly in assigned areas, including refrigerated storage or tanks when required.
Interact as needed with product development, quality control, purchasing, and shipping departments to support smooth manufacturing operations.
Understand and comply with current standard operating procedures, safety requirements, and GMP standards relevant to the position.
Arrange, clean, and maintain storage and work areas in an organized, safe, and operational condition in line with procedures and regulations.
Provide support for manufacturing areas by assisting with equipment setup, changeovers, and general production needs.
Assist in manufacturing support activities such as packaging, filling, labeling, and staging materials for production.
Prepare internal laboratory samples for testing and evaluation.
Maintain inventory of retained samples and manage rotation schedules to ensure proper sample storage and traceability.
Accurately document production activities, test results, and material usage in logs or systems as required.
Essential Skills
High school diploma required.
1-3 years of experience working in a GMP manufacturing environment.
Experience in chemical manufacturing, including handling of chemical raw materials and finished products.
Hands-on experience with blending, mixing, material handling, or other related manufacturing processes.
Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs. and maneuver drums and equipment in excess of 50 lbs.
Understanding of and ability to follow GMP, safety, and standard operating procedures.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Wayne, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr.
