Summary This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. Responsibilities The primary purpose of this position is: to serve as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) Aircraft Section Chief technical and administrative supervision through subordinate leaders and/or supervisors in accomplishing aircraft and associated inspections, components, systems, and ground support equipment are maintained in compliance with technical directives and in a timely manner to ensure the accomplishment of flying schedules, maintenance plans and make certain personnel are trained and ready to meet any exercise contingency. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-8800 Aircraft Overhaul Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to lead or supervise as an Aircraft Mechanic Supervisor. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS: This is an ART position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. The incumbent's regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. Work schedules will be so aligned to allow the individual to function fully on unit training assemblies. May be required to fly in commercial and military aircraft to perform temporary/permanent duty assignments. The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle, such as a tug, light truck, or passenger vehicle. An appropriate driver's license may be required for the position. Work is performed both inside and outside where employee may be exposed to all @types of weather conditions. There may be danger of falls from wings, fuselages, and work stands. Performs other related duties as assigned. FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTAL: Heavy lifting (45-79 pounds). Moderate carrying (15-44 lbs). Hours of straight pulling are I hour per week.
